Bahamas: Day Nine

Day 9 (Jan 4):

Woke up, read Harry Potter before anyone awoke, ate more great pancakes, flew a kite at the beach, ate at Seaspray (had conversation about Nancy, Christen's aunt), went to the Lighthouse, wrote in this, had a bonfire.
Christen's aunt is the epitome of good fortune. She had some great opportunities as an architect straight out of undergrad, won some awards for her first big project, got a full ride for Grad at Yale but gave it up for Harvard, got a good job with Ralph Lauren, got a better job elsewhere, then that company was bought by Trump. She became super-close to trump (professionally); when he asked her to redesign some golf club houses she said she had never played. Therefore, he bought her nice clubs, outfits, lessons, etc. just so she had the feel of it. Checking up on her on the course one day, he introduced her to Bill Clinton, who was also golfing that day (while he was President, I believe). After a while, she gave all this up to marry Chad Smith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers Drummer. Talk about a charmed life.
The lighthouse was really cool. It is one of the three kerosene-powered lighthouses left in the world. Even the spin of the lenses is manual, driven by a falling weight which has to be winched up three times a night. The view is gorgeous up there. I got a full 360 degree panorama-I'll post that with the other pictures when I get a chance.
The bonfire was fun. We toasted hamburgers, hotdogs, marshmallows, and conch. Lauren caught and skinned the conch earlier that day. It was really rubbery and over-spiced, but it was tasty and fun to eat.

As a side note, I'm coming back to UNC today. I'll post my exit-travels when I can. I'm also slowly working on the pictures.
