i think a simple conclusion can be made from your reaction, which i'm sorry to say, was rather predicable:
if the idea that strangers (or those who are removed by only a few degrees of separation)are reading your personal information infuriates you, perhaps it is best to keep that information private. whether you or your 'el-jay' friends will care to admit it, these blogs aren't written as a personal release so much as they are an after-school community where you can tell the most exciting bits of your lives and get "hey dude! that's awesome!" or "like, no way your parents totally suxxors!" am i patronizing your situation? no. your family life is no doubt worse than half of those on your friends list. but as you re-read some of the things you've written about the hard things you've gone through recently, don't you feel like...a commodity? like a tabloid for your friends to look over and say, "well at least my life doesn't suck as much as hers". the fact is, we don't like people to make generalizations about us or about our lives, but that's exactly what livejournal does. we package ourselves into an introduction page of our 'interests', our favorite music lyrics and, wait, don't forget the 'is love!' banners trying to separate us from the millions of other people posting insignificant blurbs about themselves. we're all searching for identitiy, all generalizing each other, all creating a commoditiy out of our own unique personalities. and i'm sorry if i find that to be incredibly sad. i apologize for saying that you were careless. however, i still believe there is no reason to have sex in high school. when you're older, you will realize how young you are right now and how much you're going to change in the next two or three years.
