I Hope I'm Not Bothering You...
OMG LOLz.
So as a linguist i'm really into all kinds of linguistic culture, especially pop culture and internet culture. Things like L33Tsp34k and "I'm in ur X, Y-ing ur Z". Recently I discovered the LOLcat (a.k.a. "cat macro picture") phenomenon. I Can Has Cheezburger ? is a website devoted to lolcats in all their silly picture and idiosyncratic grammar/spelling genius.
So i'm surfing through ICHC, and i come across a picture that just... somehow... speaks to me. Because it's me. THIS PICTURE is me. What you don't realize from simply looking at it is that my rav is in the picture too, off-screen. Or on the other side of the camera.
Usually i feel guilty bugging him all the time with unending obsessivecompulsively-detailed questions about the intricacies of all the laws, customs, and philosophies of mourning. After all, it's not like i'm a member of his shul, and he's got much more important things to do, like saving the world from Ahmadinejad.
After seeing this picture, though, i don't feel so bad. ;-)
