Excting. I have obsessed over Sailor Moon since 6th grade. I have all the dolls and the movies and the Luna Ball pocket book and I'm currently have someone download the entire 12 cd box collection of all the music from all 200 episodes. And I watching the final season (Sailor Stars) on this computer as we speak. And I own most of the manga. Soooo....
Season 1 (Salior Moon) and Season 2 (Salior Moon R which actually is the length of two season and includes the Doom Tree season and the season in which everyone first meets Rini) are both owned by a different distributing company than the rest of them, and as far a I know they have stopped distributing them. Their licsence ran out in March. So, finding seasons 1 and 2 will be a challenge if you want them in english. Actually, it s better to get them in Japanese with english subtitles. First of all, when the cartoons were dubbed into engligh they changed the personalities of the characters (as they did from manga to anime). The Japanese voice artist do the characters justice better. Also, DIC and Cloverway (the companies that own the first two season) did no translate the original anime very well, and so sometimes the thing the characters say don't seem very coherent..... Seasons one and two can be purchase in limited supply over the internet, like at amazon or at a sailormoon fan distributing page (these are really good because you can by the japanesse versions with subtitles on them).
Unless my mother has gotten rid of them, I own all the 3 of the movies and seasons three and four on vhs. If she hasnt gotten rid of them.... which i dont think she has.... i hope >.< I can let you borrow them if you want... I have the Sailor Moon R movie and Sailor Moon S movie in english and the SS movie in japanese with Subs (and its a lot better). When the movies and episodes were changed to english they took alot of the more serious things out (like Sailor Saturn being the new messiah and Sailor Uranus and Jupiter being lesbians). They also took out a lot of the profanity (although there wasnt that much to begin with).
I also have the mangas, and I'm trying to find the art book online.... You shoudl really look at those because thats where it all started and the art is AMAZING. They have most of the artbooks somewhere online, as well as the manga. You can also find out anything you need to know about sailor moon as the campaign site to get the movies and all the episodes here in america, even though its now defunct. http://www.iwaynet.net/~sos/sos.html. Their info on conventions as well as live action sailor moon (called sery moon)
and....theres a million more things i could link you to and tell you about, but this is already the LONGEST comment ive ever written and the most obsessive. So, Ill stop for now. ^^;;; I hope all this helps!
