He is CURIOUS AS ANYTHING about Rue. He knows he misstepped at first, when teasing the hell outta Jim, and he feels bad about it. He's fascinated by Rue's complexities as obviously there's a lot going on under the surface.
He's amused/eyerolly over the relationship Rue has with Jim, because Jim always has people wanting to touuuuch him, but that does NOT mean that he thinks Rue's a tramp or anything! He's just amused at how Jim always seems to attract people who dig him. This does translate sometimes into being amused at the people who're attracted to Jim, rather than being amused at Jim, because McCoy is not always VERY GOOD WITH PEOPLE. But he doesn't actually want to offend/hurt Rue or anyone else who likes Jim. Hell, he likes Jim, too. Jim's his best friend.
(and in that, I'm not using 'attracted' to mean sexual attraction, necessarily)
He's fascinated by Rue's background, and also sympathetic as hell now he knows a little more. He *greatly* appreciates Rue settling down with him when he was having a bad, bad moment missing his daughter, and Rue sharing a little of his past.
He wishes he could help more, and would be open any time to Rue needing to unburden. He's a medical doctor, but he's trained in psychology/counselling, too, and is always up for listening.
(I hope I'm using the right gender indicators. Feel free to smack me if I'm not! <3 I am not aware of Rue's canon and don't want to mess up, both for Rue's sake and for mine. <3)
