khr logo idea, originally uploaded by

So for the past three months I've been designing a series of logos for a local radio network, HMI radio. I finished up this project about a week ago and declared that logos and I were through for awhile....
....as you can see by the image in this post, this is not the case.
Recently, I was contacted by the director of our Honors Program about designing yet another logo for the Kentucky Honors Roundtable (KHR). The KHR is basically a big conference held once a semester at various participating Kentucky colleges. In the past, it has never been united under a common theme as colleges usually handle the KHR in their own way.
Now, a few students from different participating colleges want to change that. After reading the initial e-mail from my Honors Program Director, I decided I would send an e-mail to the student from Kentucky State University that was heading up the group to design this logo. Basically, the e-mail was to say, "You have the support of the MSU Honors Program." Instead, she mistook me a faculty member (I have no idea why) and placed me on the committee and sent out a committee wide e-mail notifying everyone of how great it was to have a faculty member with some graphic design skills on board for this project....
Needless to say, I cleared up all the faculty mess eventually, but now I am on a group to design yet another logo...great. Anyways, above is my first attempt. It's very rough and I collaborated with another of the artists on the color and font. I think it's an okay start.
For the two people that read this (and I know you both have graphic design knowledge) let me know what you think.
....Also, since I've posted this one, I may get around to posting the HMI logos eventually.
