What is a good English song to teach a 9 year old? Recommended songs in English teaching books just don't work because they're aimed for toddlers. (Just because English isn't your first language doesn't mean that you have to learn what native English speaking toddlers do.)
Sesame Street type songs don't work but I can't seem to find anything really appropriate in mainstream pop, either. I looked up what tweens actually listen to these days and came up with a gazillion search results, ALL mentioning 'Hannah Montana'. -_-;; Of course, this was very closely followed by 'High School Musical'. -_-;;;;
By the way, tried to teach the Do-Re-Mi song from Sound of Music but she got so confused with the wordplay - re instead of ray, ti instead of tea - that we gave up. (She's a sloooooooow learner.)
