Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Kimihiko is an expert hacker. He's also very skilled with synthesising and editing music. He was successfully able to replicate Lucy's ability to invoke mass insanity by adding in a specific type of noise to his twin °C's singing, but chooses not to do it. This was tested on rabbits, causing mass death and cannibalism within the group until only one rabbit was left alive. He is very good with technology in general (for the early 1990s) and even adapted an ordinary computer to read the barcodes written on the eyes of the barcode children.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them?  I would like to give him the power of technopathy - that is, the ability to control and manipulate technology within his immediate vicinity. It would be short range and would require concentration to maintain. However, if a device was connected to another device while he was within it, he would be able to track the area of it down to the street and potentially alter a limited amount of information contained with it, with a high level of effort, unless it was tightly secured. While it was active, it would leave his body pretty much defenceless due to the amount of concentration required, but would not take long to cut contact and return to normality.
Weapons: N/A

History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History: It all traces back to Lucy Monostone. A popular singer in the sixties and early seventies, Lucy Monostone was a cult phenomenon in the most literal level. He held a power in his voice that allowed him to affect the minds of those who heard his songs, leading to violent and suicidal tendencies. In 1972, Lucy Monostone committed suicide as part of a group of his victims.

The same day, Kimihiko Ooe and °C were born. To Gakuso, the company that created them, they were the houses for Lucy Monostone's "soul" - the original Lucy program that was part of the group of programs used to create a new Lucy. His "children", and the host for his replicated personality. Little is known of their youth, save that they too turned against Gakuso ere long and escaped their grasp. They were unaware of their importance, believing themselves ordinary samples. Allying with Shinji Nishizono, who aided Kimihiko on multiple occasions, the little group waged a secretive war against their keepers. At some point, Kimihiko and °C became closer than siblings and began to live together.

Unable to fight Gakuso directly, Kimihiko began to use his hacking and manipulative skills to their aid. While °C worked as a singer and he worked with her music, the two set up a careful double life. On the surface they were simple musicians. Outside of that, the two were catalysts working towards the end of the world. He made an ally of a man named Shimazu, manipulating him to eliminate other samples. It was a slow and tenuous process. In the meantime, as °C gained popularity slowly with her voice, Kimihiko began to test the limits of 'lucy', the power Lucy Monotone had used, using it on rabbits as a test sample. The rabbits grew hostile and began to attack one another. They killed and devoured each other as he watched, until only one remained.

As °C grew more famous, Kimihiko remained by her side, watching over and assisting with the technology used on stage. The relationship between the two remained intimate and the two became somewhat well-off. They outwardly settled down together, Kimihiko living as her house manager. Proclaiming his desire to see the end of the world before its time, Kimihiko led Shimazu to kill more people in order to incite distress among the general public. Shimazu also gave him an eye taken from the sample he had killed last; the barcoded eye which identified who he was. This barcode allowed Kimihiko to hack undetected into Gakuso's files. Meanwhile, Shimazu was detected by Gakuso due to his relentlessly obvious methods. His instability made him a liability.

At the same time, Shinji Nishizono was investigating a killer at a young sample's request. Finding from Yosuke's files that he was a sample, he contacted Kimihiko for information and the two arranged a meeting for the first time in a long time. While Shinji was the face of the attack on Gakuso, Kimihiko did not receive contact from him often. This was only two years after mobile phones became available at a reasonable price and Yosuke Kobayashi would have wondered at finding a mobile under his name, resulting in their contact requiring easily-traceable lines of communication. Shinji asked him to investigate Kido Haito and to meet him.

They met on a rooftop soon after. After exchanging pleasantries, Kimihiko admitted his work so far and gave Shinji an envelope containing three things. A printout on Kido, a walkman and an audio tape that he claimed might unlock Shinji's lost memories. This tape would later be what awoke Kazuhiko Amamiya. When Shinji suspiciously asked why, Kimihiko simply claimed it to be repayment for the aid Shinji had earlier given them. Asking him to return it and tell him what happened, he left Shinji alone to listen.

Meanwhile, Kimihiko informed Shimazu of the existence of the clones, goading him into going after his own. Gakuso had long since adopted the principle of developing perfect clones of all of their samples and of some important people, to be used as spare parts and replacements in their experiments. Kimihiko sent Shimazu after Shimazu's own clone, influencing him with the fact that he was easily replaced. The two faced each other and fought.

Kido Haito was picked up by Shinji's ally Bai, who drove him to him to inform him of the truth that Kimihiko had unveiled. Hido Kaito himself was the murderer that he had thought was stalking him. He had multiple personality disorder as a result of Gakuso and his own failed development. When Kido begged him to help him, Shinji told him he would have to face it alone and left him behind. That same night, Kido confronted his alternate personality. Goaded, terrified, Kido Haito threw himself in front of a train and separated himself from the murderer in more ways than one.

A day or so later, on Kimihiko and °C's birthday, Shinji ran into °C on his way to their house. She informed him that Kimihiko had gone to visit Shimazu and that the two of them had a date that afternoon. "At the place where the stars can be seen during the day". It was a mystery that she had given Kido earlier. Offering to have the three of them play together next time, she left, and Shinji slipped off to buy flowers as a birthday sentiment. It was an unfortunate decision. Those few moments could have been better spent.

When Kimihiko met Shimazu, it was not the Shimazu he had sent but the other. The other Shimazu showed Kimihiko the eye of his clone, laughing mockingly, and called someone who had been hiding until then. Wakana Isono, the alternate personality of Machi Isono, had found him. She confronted him, calling him Lucy Monostone and revealed the truth of his identity. Shocked and disbelieving, he denied it. Wakana explained the basis of the program of which Shinji Nishizono was considered a failed experiment. The program that would allow someone to influence the death-drive of others, causing suicide, murder, war... and the end of the world. Kimihiko's desire. °C's desire. Shinji's desire. And the desire of Lucy Monostone. As he denied it, "Lucy Monostone" took control of his body, to his horror. While the hysterical and deranged Lucy program continued to spout nonsense, Kimihiko tried to make sense of the situation.

Wakana told Lucy that he would need to transfer to her body to gain what he wanted. Taking the gun she offered him, he pointed it to Kimihiko's head. As Kimihiko fought, Lucy mockingly told him that he desired death - and Wakana told him that °C would soon follow. In his shock, Kimihiko lapsed in his fighting. As °C waited in their special place, Kimihiko Ooe committed forced suicide. It was not enough for Wakana. Wakana confessed expressionlessly to Lucy, who held onto the corpse's lost life for a few moments, that they no longer needed him. They had done without him for twenty years. The program they had developed, combined with Lucy's songs, would be enough to make a new Lucy. She wished him a happy birthday, before shooting him a second time.

Shinji Nishizono arrived mere moments too late.

While Shimazu went his own way, Wakana proceeded to where °C waited. Telling her that he would never arrive, she told °C that she had not killed Kimihiko - but that she would kill her. She shot her in the throat in order for Miwa, her copy, to take her place. She died staring up at the stars.

Much later, Shinji Nishizono avenged their deaths with the murder of Hisashi Shimazu, the event that resulted in Kazuhiko Amamiya's permanent switch to control over Yosuke Kobayashi.
Point in Canon: Volume 11, following the revelation of Wakana regarding Lucy Monostone and his own forced suicide. Prior to this point, he had recently discovered the real Shimazu's death and his own connection to Lucy.
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: N/A

Character Personality: Kimihiko Ooe is a man rooted in reality.

Practical, thoughtful, manipulative. These are all words that can be given to him. To an outsider, he might be considered a cold person. Relentless, uncaring for their lives, he easily incites the deaths of the other samples using Shimazu and Shinji as weapons. Unlike Kazuhiko Amamiya, Kimihiko does not have the benefit of an alternate personality to hide behind. While he does have the soul of Lucy Monostone within him, that soul is something that does not come out unless incited and has remained dormant for the entire twenty years of his life. The only fatality it causes is his own.

Save for °C and Shinji, Kimihiko does not appear to be close to anyone. While Kimihiko can easily be said to be using Shimazu, the same cannot be said for Shinji, with whom he claims to owe for his aid. Although he refers to Shinji at one point as "Boss", it is clear that the connection between the two is more of friendship than of follower and leader. On the other side of the spectrum is °C. His relationship with °C is an uncommon one. Despite their "twin" status, it is clear that they don't think of each other as siblings. They live together, sleep together, even go on dates. His attitude to °C's casual naked hugging is entirely relaxed. They have a happy life together.

When it comes to people he allies with, Kimihiko is a reliable person. Kimihiko is a man who deals in information and he wilfully uses that information to aid them. He is open with them, although not entirely; if he thinks they are better not knowing something, he will hold it back until it becomes necessary to inform them. He is confident in himself and them; they will not need the information until he thinks they do. That is why he is surprised when Shimazu is killed. He had faith in his skills, psychotic though he was.

To his tools, Kimihiko is much cooler - although with anyone who isn't an enemy, he is rather pleasant. Relaxed, friendly - if a little quiet. He holds his temper quite well. However, although his temper does not rise easily, when it does it can be explosive. He handles Shimazu's hysterical amusement and deranged nature with ease. When asked, he mentions to °C that he doesn't even mind Shimazu's craziness because he's "moved by his faith" and that he does the murdering "as a hobby". He speaks of his own tests of 'Lucy''s ability with reckless abandon and little emotion. He doesn't seem to feel guilt regarding it or the deaths of the samples. Their lives are simply meaningless and if it's to bring down Gakuso, anything goes. He holds Shimazu and Shinji carefully under control, using the samples to distract their worse urges and attack Gakuso. He keeps them focused, although only Shinji is aware of their target. He is in no sense a pacifist; he merely prefers to use others to fight rather than to do it himself.

Shimazu himself points out that Kimihiko is almost poetic in one regard. His desire to see the end of everything is something he feels strongly about. The end of Gakuso, of the samples. Even the end of the world. He's the type of person that wants to see it, to see the world collapse and destroy itself. As casual and controlled as Kimihiko can be, he is not entirely a good person. Despite that, Kimihiko is not a man prone to random violence, to uncontrolled cruelty or reckless actions. Everything he does is calculated. Everything has meaning. When people die, they die for causes, rather than for amusement. And he views those deaths with the same critically cool expression. It's only becoming of one of Gakuso's toys, after all.
"Lucy Monostone"

I added this extra piece to cover the dormant personality of Lucy Monostone. While it tends to remain dormant (and had for twenty years in canon) it has come out canonically in response to Kimihiko's fervent denials of its existence. I have no current plans to bring it out, yet I thought it appropriate to add this part in.

Lucy Monostone is a madman. Energetic, over-dramatic, it is a personality dedicated to death and chaos. Unstable to the extreme, it speaks most often in broken english, laughing and gesturing as it does. It bears little resemblance to the cool and manipulative personality that the original Lucy Monostone showed most often. A careless person, it recklessly destroys its own body without a thought - driving Kimihiko Ooe to shoot himself after a brief mental struggle. Lucy is impatient and cruel, malicious at the best of times.

Contrary to its origins, "Lucy" is easily manipulated. It is arrogant and thoughtless. The concept of betrayal is impossible for it to accept. At best, it is hedonistic and uncaring of life; at worst it is sadistic and thinks nothing of the death of others. Anything goes as long as it is to Lucy's own benefit. However, unless it sees a reason to come out, it does not. For twenty years it stayed dormant, until Izono Wakana turned up to reveal it. It appears to be a stronger personality than Kimihiko himself and does not bother to protect him from the knowledge of what is going on.

Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: I would like to have him come in partially amnesiac due to his method of death, meaning he would not remember the Lucy part until much later. I could see him easily working for AGI, although he'd likely steer clear of SERO due to his own experiences with Gakuso. However, if he was kept unaware of SERO'S anti-human intentions he could easily put his technological skills to use for them. At any rate, his discrete information seeking is likely to draw the attention of one or the other sooner or later. In the meantime I'd like him to get back into the music business and try to build up a front of being an ordinary person while investigating his situation in his own time under a false name. I currently have no plans for the Lucy personality to actually surface at this time, but it might be good for future plot.

Appearance/PB: Kimihiko (top).

Writing Samples

First Person Sample

[Kimihiko's voice is quiet and professional. There's a relaxed, casual nature to it, although the astute might notice that it's almost too relaxed. It's not cheerful, more calm than anything else.]

These people. The ones at the place where I entered. They named themselves as SERO operatives.

[Odd name. Foreign, from what he could tell. For that matter, why had he found his minimal English skills suddenly enough to carry out a full interview - more like an interrogation - with them?]

Are they legitimate? They seemed official but you can never tell. [A faint sigh. How much of this is real?]

Is it normal to wake up in this place feeling like you've been hit by a truck?

Third Person Sample

Kimihiko Ooe stared off blankly into space. "°C..." he murmured as if to himself. The woman seemed to be haunting his thoughts. He wondered faintly if she was still waiting there, staring up at the sky as time passed and growing steadily more concerned. No. She would not be concerned. She would be angry. Concern was below her, like so much else.

Part of him wondered if this was their fault. Gakuso's. Everything was blurring together and fading. He couldn't tell what had been said, if anything had. Who was there? Where was there? He could barely remember even fragments of the last few days. He brought a hand up to his head, clutching at his hair as the pain of his headache grew. '...cy... one...' was the only fragment he could get. Nonsensical. Broken words that made little to no sense.

If he had been a lesser man he might have given into the anger rising within himself. He might have raged, stormed, destroyed everything within the tiny room he had claimed. But Kimihiko Ooe was no small man. He did not allow anger to claim his sanity as it might have so many of the samples. He rose to his feet, strode to the window and threw it wide open. The heat hit him forcibly. Spring was truly just coming here, whereas it had been halfway over at home. He drew in fierce gulps of air, trying to focus. What assets did he have here? Shinji, Shimazu and °C were gone. He had nothing on himself but his goggles and his clothing and amusing although the garbled english on his jacket may have been, it was not helpful.

That left him with the computer that the man had called an NV. Information would be helpful here. But first, he would take things simple. He would wait. Watch. He would see what he could find out without acting. This would be a time to tread slowly.

Kimihiko stood almost motionlessly at the window before turning to look at the laptop sprawled on his bed. He had one asset. Even if somehow he couldn't get a message off the island, perhaps he had an option after all. There was no way he was giving up. Shinji and Shimazu would have nothing to leash them save °C and she would not lay a finger on Shimazu. He disturbed her too much. But these companies held a certain level of interest. Perhaps one of them was to blame for all of this.
