Show Title: Level of Intensity
Description:
Stop listening to Pavement.
Now, let’s get down to brass tacks, follow procedure and count stacks like Nasdaq. We wanna play intense music that intensely rules. Noise, metal, krautrock, psych, whatever. Keyword: Intense. It can be that “I didn’t even get stoned and this indecipherable bullshit sounds like Jesus” intense; a downright bang your head into your 15” Powerbook intense; or even the “what the shit are these noize kidz playing????//?” intense.
The succinct history of TEH MERZBOW noise music: Italian futurists started making noise music with machines circa 1910, then you had the likes of John Cage having fun with atonality and electronics and that, a few weirdos started freaking out in the 60s between LSD trips, and in the 70s the Germans got their hands on teh noise and started jamming with it, and then it was fucking on, baby. The music of that generation branched out to influence the emerging punk scene, later the metal scene, the industrial scene, the psych scene, etc. Sounds really important and merit worthy like the entire Toni Braxton canon, right?
We’re fun guys. I played SunnO))) for my roommate and asked what he thought of it. He came up with roughly: “The aural equivalent to being run over by a steamroller going 5 mph.” I corrected him and said “2 mph”. We aren’t friends anymore. Some people pray to God. We pray to the God of Rock and Roll.
