Template? [Makes another frowny face.] Seriously? I think I would have remembered being dragged to another world. Been there, done portals, and they're definitely no fun for traveling!

...Well, at least you're not freaking out and going 'Oh, that's just not possible'. That's better than most - better than me on my first day.

But I don't think it's anything as obvious as what you're talking about, this Template's weirder than that. I got here by just walking through a door, for example.

When you've been through everything I've done, different worlds aren't anything extraordinary. My friends and I once used a book to travel to some other place called Pylea, where humans were kept as cows. [Makes a face and shudders.] Never using that travel guide again, I'll tell you that!

So you got here just by walking through a door? Kinda nifty and not at the same time. [Rubs her neck, just noticing the glossy scar of a mouth print there. Frowns.] Okay... That was bleeding before, now it's all scarry and stuff.

Oiiii, that sounds horrible. You ever dealt with a sentient disease on your world, though? That's horrible too. [Also makes a face.]

...Bleeding, hm? Something else I should tell you about this Template - people who come here either come here by accident or die before arrival. I'm not sayin' that's what happened, but still - just so you know.

By accident or after dying? So what, this is heaven? Hell? World of the dead?

'World of the dead' for some, I guess. I don't remember dying, but who knows? This Template's never been nice enough to give the answers to these questions, at any rate.

Huh. Okay, so different world, different Template, and... [Touches her neck again.] I'm probably dead. Check. I can deal with that. Least I know I killed the Master before I died. And no body else got hurt either.

So does this happen a lot, I guess? People just popping up?

[She nods approvingly.] Yeah, it's always good to not have unfinished business before arriving here - even if you're still alive.

Sure does. Sometimes they stay for a while, sometimes they don't. I've been here for over half a year, for example.

So there's a way to get out of here? [Perky face.]

It's a little bit more difficult than just trying to walk out. I think. The folks that managed to leave didn't tell the rest of us how to get out before leaving.

Well that's not nice of them! Someone should hunt them down and... and... [Pauses. Looks at a loss for words.] punish them?

Hey, hey, some of the people that managed to get out were my friends. Besides, if it's that difficult to find a way out, that means finding 'em will be difficult too, won't it? Not to mention the fact that we're all from different worlds.

[Laughs a little.] Okay, okay, got it. No punishing your friends. Maybe we could find a witch though! And they could do a spell and open a portal to somewhere else? My dad and my best friend back home could do that! Just- yeah, I didn't get the magicky gene.

You mean magic-users? I don't think anyone from my world could do stuff like that, for the most part magic on my world is used for attacking enemies and for healing and so on. And I don't have the gift for my world's magic either, so hey, we're in the same boat.

Magic can do all sorts of stuff in my world. It's the reason I have my powers and I'm a Slayer even. Way back when, there used to be only one Slayer at a time. But then a whole bunch of stuff happened and this spell activated all the potential Slayers at once. After that, anyone born with the potential to be a Slayer was a Slayer from birth. And I would know, because I was the first one born with the power!
