Musing, randomness and thoughts

Hmm that title may be a bit presumptuous, unsure yet to the number or quality of my thoughts recently.

First up a Quote:

An author I admire greatly:

I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestioned ability of a man to elevate his life by conscious endeavor.

Henry David Thoreau

Ah me, I feel the urge to post again, had a good weekend I went to see my Mom, as my Dad was out of town. He has been out in western Canada for a bit traveling and puttering around as is his way. The man could spend a week getting across town if the urge took him or cross the continent in two days. Unfortunately on this particular trip, the day he left, or possibly the day after, my Mom’s kidney specialist decided it was time to start dialysis. We all knew the day was coming and in truth it should have happened before now but the barn door is closed now so we’ll move forward. Dad was already heading west with a motorcycle in the back of his truck he was delivering to someone or other. Mom had to scramble around a bit to find rides to the treatment; they live about 45 minutes from the hospital. Between family and friends they got it covered. On the up side, Mom is down almost 40 lbs all fluid she has been retaining since her kidneys haven’t been working right, extreme weight loss not recommended for the masses I believe, prolly see an infomercial about a safe way to do the same thing in the future >.< So now for the side story.

My dad has been a truck driver for 50 years, and a damn good one loves to drive and even after injuries and health issues he has an urge to see the world through a windshield. So he goes with friends or takes his pickup and away he goes. This trip was to BC Nanaimo I believe was his destination. He picked up a friend of ours that we have known for over 3 decades Him and Gord both share a love for the trip and the Rockies in particular are a spectacular drive. So they delivered said motorcycle to a happy camper somewhere and struck out for home or Calgary first in actual fact to drop Gord off. In an area around Golden BC which is some of the wildest driving left on the Trans Canada Highway, a piece of the mountains that are so spectacular decide to hurtle down and join them in the cab of the truck. It came through the windshield at a good clip, destroyed the windshield and the dash of the truck and bounced off Gord’s arm. Dad said had he been leaning forward at the time it would have hit him in the head and probably killed him. This was caused by a rock 6 inches across. I hope dad kept the rock as a memento. I personally am not sure Gord could be killed by being hit in the head, got a head like a coconut tbh. Love him dearly! This all came about after dad found out that mom was some 2000 miles away starting the rather traumatic first steps to kidney dialysis. I am sure he would have been in a hurry to get home, but the rock put them out of commission for a few days while the vehicle was repaired, also I think gave them time to washout their undies. Gord has been safely returned to Calgary, a grand-daughter has been picked up, and he is probably less then a day from home, I love my dad greatly and admire his ability to get out and roam, but hope at least for a while he’ll stick a little closer to home. Mom needs him right now.

Coming to Grips

Well from my last post I can say that the cousin on deaths door had it opened RIP Vernon, a wonderful man who will be sorely missed by family and friends. Still get misty eyed over Diane I’m sure that will improve, maybe getting back to the writing would help IDK.

Lighter side

Still playing world of warcraft, still enjoying it, having a wonderful playing with Ral, and Keavs of course! Anyone that just bashes the game as a complete time waster, should pause for a moment and try and find out how many long term real life friendships have developed out of this virtual world I am willing to bet the number of friendships and marriages would stagger the mind. I have met every type of person imaginable, and some I never imagined possible, but the ones I associate with are the best kind of people you could ask for kind giving, thoughtful and still willing to rub it in when you make a nub out of yourself! So to the people I play with, Thanks for the fun times. I must honestly say I have never met a person like Keavs before in my life what a unique individual!
