We are so on the same page, Borgmama. :) I actually loved the Plucky Pennywhistle episode, especially the unicorn with the rainbows coming out of its ass, but again... SAM. I don't like when Sam's issues are minimized or disappeared. Perhaps they have to or the guy would be a blob of jello and nonfunctional, but it reminds me of how Tolkien created Frodo to be suffering horribly...and then you really didn't see it until the very, very end. Peter Jackson, IMHO, did better with it - more suffering, sooner.
Maybe Peter Jackson was just a h/c lovin' fanboy. *snort* We so get it, right? (I actually think in Tolkien's case he couldn't bear to go where he'd set up things to go...)
Jeffrey was a terrifying character, and I agree that even more sobering was seeing the boys engage in the acts they engaged in. Difficult to watch. I also agree - I just wanted the Sam/Lucifer stuff to be more ever-present, and what's with any of this physical damage having no impact either? Like in Alex Alexis Annie Anne Sam was nearly drained of his entire blood volume and we heard nothing about that at all... On the other hand, I suppose the writers have to avoid turning the show into one endless hurt/comfort soap opera. But still, guys. Throw us a bone!
In the finale of Season 6 both Dean and Bobby took a header off the top of a staircase over a metal rail and landed on metal tables that buckled as they hit them...aaand...nothing. They should have been broken!
It's been so long since I read LOTR that I don't remembermuch of what happened to Frodo. I always think of how stalwart Sam was!
