Borgias nominated for seven Gemini Awards
For those of you scratching your head going, "What?", the Geminis are simply the Canadian equivalent to the Emmys. :)
Most are craft/technical nominations again, but in this case, it's also up for one of the big ones.
* Best Dramatic Series
* Best Costume Design (for 1x01/02: "The Poisoned Chalice/The Assassin")
* Best Direction in a Drama Series (for 1x07: "Death on a Pale Horse"
* Best Original Score for a Program or Series (for 1x09: "Nessuno (Nobody)")
* Best Picture Editing (for 1x08: "The Art of War")
* Best Visual Effects (for 1x01/02: "The Poisoned Chalice/The Assassin")
* Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series (Colm Feore (Cardinal Della'Rovere), notably in 1x01/02: "The Poisoned Chalice/The Assassin" and 1x05: "Lucrezia's Wedding")
If you're in Canada (or in the US and can get the channel with your cable package, or live close enough to the Canadian border to pick it up over the air), the Awards Gala airs September 7 at 8 pm, live on CBC. I think it may be streamed live online as well? Not sure. Anyway.
