I believed in Santa when I was very small because I remember asking my father how we would get our gifts from him as we had no chimney. He probably said something that shattered my little itty bitty world, luckily I have repressed it. But I know I didnt believe much after I was about 4 or 5. I would encourage my kids to believe in Santa.....its just fun. It's fantasy and sometimes you can believe without really believing, you know?

It might be Valentine's Day before you get my card at that rate : )

Aww! I love that you apply logic to a man who's supposed to be able to deliver presents to every single kid in the world in ONE NIGHT, lol! Surely the lack of a chimney wouldn't stand in his way! :P

But wait, so your father was the one who shattered your beliefs? That's so mean!

It's fantasy and sometimes you can believe without really believing, you know?

Like, the kids know he's not really real but have fun with the tradition anyway? IDGI. 'coz I never believed, so I'm not sure how 'regular' kids view it. Do they have any inkling that it's all a hoax or that it's just something fun to believe in or do they get all into the idea and then get crushed when the truth comes out?

I'm just a Scrooge, a Grinch, I guess!

Lol! That'd be the best Valentine's Day ever, then! *iz bitter dismissive about the concept of Valentine's Day*

I dont look at it as a hoax or a lie, its a tradition. I mean lots of kids get their picture taken with Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas and know they'll get it and maybe Mom and Dad bought it, or Grandma, but Santa fits in there somewhere. When you're a little kid, nothing has to make sense.

Like sticking teeth under the pillow and having money the next day. I never once remember waking up cuz one of my parents lifted my pillow, but lo and behold the next morning, the tooth was gone and I had a shiny new quarter. Kids believe in magic just because they're kids. I mean, not all kids and that's fine, but lots. The world can be a cold, harsh place....a little magic can go a long way.

Check out this Santa story I wrote.....I still believe in the magic ( ... )

Lol, yeah, like in your fic, with Penelope being all 'he's a Santa representative, duh!' Even with evidence saying he's not Santa, she still has an explanation, and I suppose regular little kids would think the same way. ('I suppose', lol, like I was never a little kid...but IDK, it's so hard to remember the way I thought about things back then!)

Aww, I never believed in the Tooth Fairy either- and I didn't get money, damn it. I should've pretended, just to con a coin out of my parents. Damn my un-wily younger self!

Meh, Valentine's Day. Just ONE YEAR, I'd like to be in a relationship so I can be all, 'WOOHOO, look at me, I have someone, lookit what they got me!' >_< As it is, I'm just bitter and lonely and...a little sad, 'coz my grandfather used to get us girls roses so that made me feel a bit special. *sighs*

The person who loves you should express it everyday, not try to win brownie points on the 14th of FebruaryThis doesn't bother me so much- I mean, obviously it's up to the ( ... )

I didnt know if you'd ever seen this but its NORAD'S Santa Tracker. Its more than one night, time zones help Santa get all the presents delivered all over the world on time, and NORAD tracks him. Check it out, its lots of fun : )

ETA: He's in Australia right now as a matter of fact.
