'...for my heart is a child that stumbles lonely for the arms of the wild...'

* I think I need an icon from one of my fandoms with the text 'BOOBS' on it for intellectual conversations with luxuria_oceanus. :P Can anyone point me in the right direction?

* I'm doing the same thing with Castle as I did with The Pretender- falling in love with it via fanfic before ever seeing the show. It happens when people constantly squee at how brilliant and shippy it is, leading me to seek out fic so I too can share in the squee, and before you know it, I'm completely obsessed. [Not that it takes much prodding to convert me, lol *facepalm*]

There's quite a few similarities between Castle and Mentalist, what with the professional, by-the-book, kick-ass, gun-wielding chick and the exasperating, trouble-making civilian 'consultant' and their bicker/flirt routine. Except there is way more sexual innuendo in Castle, apparently. Beckett seems to serve it back to him more than Lisbon does to Jane, which is one of the things that bugs and amuses me about Mentalist- she'll resort to things like 'bite me', which doesn't rate a 10 on the wit scale, but it's rather cute how he flusters her and she has no come-back, it's exactly how I'd react. I appreciate banter but I have no skill at it!

This review of Castle mentions the flip in the traditional roles of men and women, and references Mentalist with this line:

'Although The Mentalist also has a female detective and a male consultant, it's not the same because Patrick Jane dominates everyone he comes in contact with, so Lisbon never really gets any spotlight...'

>_< Sad but true. I love Lisbon, I love Jane, but I do wish the writers would emphasize Lisbon a bit more. She's in the background a little too much for my liking. I know Jane's abilities are central to solving the cases, but it'd be nice to have good ol' fashioned police work on Lisbon's part unravel the puzzle now and then.

Both women rely on their magic badge to get them what and where they need.  Authority fetish, anyone? ;D

Both women are equally fierce with a gun. RAWRRR. Gun kink. :P

LMAO. So, Beckett's the more brutal of the two women! She'll attack Castle if provoked, whereas Lisbon's the more nurturing, caring one, who'll take care of him when mean people up and sock him on the nose.

Interestingly, both women also have an angsty history involving their mother. Lisbon lost hers in a car crash with a drunk driver- Beckett? Not sure, the mysterious phrase 'It's about your mother' or some such is floating around, but I haven't a clue what that's about.

I really love the tough, composed facade both of them wear, but they're vulnerable underneath if someone as perceptive as Castle or Jane start poking and prying into their past. This text from an Emily icon suits them- 'strong but I break'.

[The Castle caps are from sapphs' site, catering to all your shippy needs. ^_^]

* One last thing Castle/Mentalist have in common: unfortunate ship-smushes. Jisbon- gah! *glares at sapphs* It's all your fault I can't take this ship name! And for Castle/Beckett- Caskett! WTF? JUST A TRIFLE MORBID, ISN'T IT?*shakes head* Lmao.

* I think I'm on a roll here because I've also fallen for Eleventh Hour which is yet another show in which the gender roles are flipped with the female being the one with the gun running around protecting the brilliant but erratic and slightly insane male civilian. [I'm so predictable!]

*streetcatx is made of awesome. She posted several fantastic icon entries while I was gone, and I am on squee overload right now. I can't resist posting some of the funnier icons- there's an abundance of shippy ones, but you'll be seeing them when I get around to that icon cull to add them 'coz they are just wonderful.

Bwahaha! That last icon sums up my thoughts perfectly! The other members of the team are all paired up and he's on his lonesome. Poor guy, no wonder he always has a book around, so he can bury himself in fiction while the couples are a-flirting.

OMFG, ADELLE DEWITT?!
Lol. That's seriously the first thing I thought when I saw this gorgeous pic of Lena Headey. :P
I've seen about half of Dollhouse now and I'm really enjoying it. I think 'coz I went in all squicked out and fully aware of its flaws and shortcomings- there's something to be said for watching something with zero expectations, it can't help but do better than you thought. :D

Vidspam:
Eerie, whimsical, fantastical...my new favorite song. I can't wait to get hold of the album, it's been described as 'chic fairytale fare', I love the idea of a concept album about queens and knights, sirens and dragons, emerald cities and crystal towers...
