I just found Robin McKinley is here on LJ. God bless technology. You can find just about anyone online these days. I love her book Sunshine [which is my favorite horror/romance] and now I really adore her as a person. I mean, the humor just kills me! And she described exactly how I, as a lowly fanfic writer, feel:

Ha, I totally do not mean to guilt you about the cat!fic...it just comes up in conversation...not intending to depress you about it or anything! You know, I keep looking at your writing when I'm trying to figure out how to make my fic flow right. I have the dialogue down, it's just trying to figure out the right mix of description and pacing that troubles me. I'm reading the 'Inspector Lynley' books by Elizabeth George [yay for intellectual reading! *hides romance novels*] and she goes into insane detail, like, the number of cups on a table, or the types of shoes in a wardrobe, that kind of thing. That irritates me, but somehow I end up over-explaining when I write... *rolls eyes*
