'Now that we know it's time
Can we walk this line together?
...this is the day we come to say
All of the pain has come and gone away...'
-Together, The Kin
Watched Moonlight earlier. Love, love, love that song. I *want*.
Ah, Mick. It's kinda embarrassing how often he gets his butt kicked. Like, EVERY episode. I understand if he's faced with a vamp his own age, but he's taken on newly converted vamps and still had his ass handed to him. Even chicks beat him up. How does his reputation not suffer from the relentless beatings he takes? Hmm, I wonder if it's maybe because he doesn't feed from the vein- maybe stored blood doesn't sustain him as well? But it's lame, no matter how you cut it. He's the *hero*, FCOL.
I'm still into this show, despite Beth's boyfriend, despite occasionally cheesy dialogue [I'm sorry, did I say 'occasional'?], despite the overt use of powers in public without repercussions, despite the writers not being able to keep secrets between the characters for mega-bittersweet undertone-potential, despite being compelled to reveal everything in episode after episode after episode, rather than letting some facts simmer under the surface and age a little.
I suppose it's all the vampire romances I read. They make me a sap for this kind of show. It's so romantic, but so irritating at the same time. This was like, the fifth or sixth ep and already, she knows he's a vampire, she has fed him with her blood hot out of her veins and she's found out that he was her childhood savior, her guardian angel. Where is the suspense, the mystery? Now all they have is the stupid boyfriend in the middle, and they have to come up with dumb excuses for them not to be together. If he'd been a vampire and she hadn't known, that would've added a whole other dimension to their relationship, because I can see how he'd be reluctant to expose her to that dark truth, but we've been through that and she adapted in the blink of an eye. Then she finds out he was the one that saved her as a kid, and she's worked through that in about five minutes [tv time]. And with all these truths revealed and exposed between them, when she makes a move on him, makes it clear that she wants more, he makes this cryptic statement about, 'Well, now you should know why we can never be together'- uh, why is that exactly? Huh? Anyone?
Like I said, now that there are no *real* obstacles in their way, the writers are just going to throw in stupid cliches and plot devices to keep them apart and it's going to be reduced to something cheap and worthless by the time they're done with it.
About the actual ep, it's so stupid how Mick, like many tv characters, is so easily distracted during a fight to the death. On at least two, if not three, separate occasions during his heroic fight with Shepard [lol, I was like, 'But Sheppard is a GOOD name, how can ladies be screaming it with fear and loathing?!], he looked up when Beth and the girl bumped into furniture or slammed doors. God. You think he might focus on the vamp trying to rip his throat out, no?
And it's always so convenient how a baddie will grap a chick by the throat, look lingeringly into her eyes, toy with his knife, buff his nails, twirl his fringe, adjust his collar and waste half an hour waiting for the hero to come in time to save his love. *rolls eyes* They need better fight co-ordinators, seriously. Bam-Bam, anyone?
I don't get why Mick didn't dispatch the priest to meet his maker- the guy accepted money to turn a serial killer into a vamp. I don't think dusting him calls for a crisis of conscience, do you? This guy is a monster, he needs to be put down and Mick walks off and leaves him preaching to people and absolving them of their sins. *scoffs* Maybe I looked away from the tv for a sec and missed Mick being SMART for a change, but I don't think so.
I thought Mick should've been more upset about Beth going through his stuff. He specifically told her it wouldn't be a good idea to go into his office...
[paraphrased]
Mick: It wouldn't be a good idea to go upstairs either...or through the grey door.
Beth: It's starting to sound like 'Alice in Wonderland'.
Mick [smirks]: Beware of bottles marked 'drink me'.
***These moments of CUTE remind me why I still watch this show. *melts* So adorable.***
...and she went and invaded his privacy and found out his secret. I don't get why he was saying he'd understand if she was upset. Why would she be mad with him? She forced herself into his life, the least a guy can expect is to keep a few secrets, right? And he's apologizing to her. Whatever. But then she hits on him and he rejects her, for no reason whatsoever.
