Can I just say I love how many new shows there are that I’m interested in checking out! I know I’m not likely to fall in love with most of them, but it’s that pleasure of anticipation, in d/l a bunch of pilots and wriggling with excitement over what each may bring and speculating as to its promise. I’ve seen and reviewed
The Secret Circle,
Revenge

I like that the two leaders seemed to have an somewhat amiable past but are now on opposite sides.
Jim doesn't seem too jerky for me yet, they almost overdid it but I think them having a perfect family would have just been boring. I know there's a lot of alpha males characters that act silly but when he wanted to get his place talking back to the leader he just seemed to be hiding his vulnerability to me. As in he never wants to come off as a sap (which he really is) and though yes as a cop he should have known not to react to the officers finding Zoe at their home (and I agree why in the universe did they have another kid they seem like smart people? And not even the 'i love family so much' kind of people, more like that look that passed between them at one stage like one of them was about to die or something slightly sinister) but I just imagine myself living in that kind of dying world your body is not at its optimum and the whole half-living life you lead gets to you and its just a bad moment when they find the kid.
A moment ago she was enjoying fresh fruit for like the first time ever and then he sees her life flash before his eyes and reacts to an idea he imagines (before it happens).
Also, I don't think the writer's wanted us to really feel sorry for him when the son doesn't agree with him being back, just to show another pressure and/or hurdle the family have to get through.
Damn, I'm so glad it wasn't just me with the Skye & Taylor scene! That I don't want to disappoint you line and lingering looks (except for the looks in which they're trying to not discuss the waterfall creeps) got me bad.
Maddy'll break a rule or two when her hand is forced for her brother's sake or something I predict. (Or perhaps she just cracks and goes a discoverin' and the cute boy will rescue her? ;P)

Yeah, but where from, do you know?
I do enjoy that interaction- it’s nice when you have enemies on opposite sides who aren’t all RAEG-y and can still be sensible instead of frothing at the mouth to kill each other. (lol, the nerve of Mira to trade for her man when her side’s been trying to kill him! And I love that he’s practical enough to take her up on it, since they need that metal or whatever, instead of being all ‘my principles won’t allow it, rahrahrah’.

ITA! I have to say, I’ve seen a lot of family conflict, and a LOT of it is silly and banal and utterly frustrating to me, but the father/son conflict, while cliché, is actually really well-done here. I was totally on Josh’s side and I liked that he wasn’t falling into the ‘oh, one big happy family’ thing.

See, I really hated him in that scene. Then he was humble with that ‘I’ve got the opposite of a green thumb, but I’ll do my best’ comment WHICH I REALLY LIKED, YAY, JIM and later on, he really applied himself to the weeding and put 110% into getting the job done, however unglamorous. That endeared me to him, he was so adorable straddling the fence and exulting at finishing the task!
So with all that in mind, his attitude really did seem less offensive, like he was, as you said, putting up a front to cover up his vulnerability.
I guess it might be a male/female thing- guys are supposed to be tough and confident and blah, while women are more diplomatic and negotiate things, try to smooth over issues, that’s how we’re socialized. I don’t like his attitude, but I do feel more sympathetic, when he closed his eyes, it did make me think he was super stressed out and it was a burden off his shoulders and now he could drop the tough guy routine.
that look that passed between them at one stage like one of them was about to die or something slightly sinister
So maybe they really would’ve killed Zoe? Nah, if they were gonna do something, she’d’ve been offed while he was in jail, but it seems like there’s no dramas with Dr Shannon (jfc, what is her name?) keeping all three kids.

DAMN IT. As soon as he produced that orange and everyone was oohing and ahhing over it, I just KNEW they wouldn’t get to enjoy it! I hope someone from the family ate that orange after the drama with the cops. I hate to think he spent tons of money and/or favors getting it only for it to be wasted!

It’s just I think the son was being presented in the light of ‘oh, that stupid boy, what a brat, ugh, teenagers have no respect’, not necessarily that he was justified with his attitude, y’know?

*bouncesqueeflail* YAY, I AM NOT ALOOOONE, OMG, THEY GOT YOU, TOO, I AM SO HAPPY, ILU. *tacklesmooch* :D :D :D I have so much love for this show rn, it just… <3 I know they’re not meant to be a couple, IDEC, just let them have scenes like this once in a while, PLEASE.
(I’m kinda scared, though, ‘coz the Shannon family are the stars, but the others, not so much. I hope they don’t kill Skye or Taylor off *bites nails*)

See, if it’s like that, I won’t mind! It’s just, she’s the ‘good daughter’, she wants to please her parents and obey authority figures and this is why I would think it OOC for her to just defy the rules and throw caution to the winds. But if it was for a good reason, like for her brother, that’d be fine.
Or perhaps she just cracks and goes a discoverin' and the cute boy will rescue her? ;P)
Haha, I don’t usually teenship, but she totally has a crush on him and he looked back at her when he walked away and I could go for that. Puppy love could be cute!
