castle finale: 'Did I say that I need you, did I say that I want you? Oh, if I didn't, I'm a fool.'
I haven’t written an ep reaction in a long while, but since everyone and their dog is doing a Castle finale post, well, let me hop on the bandwagon. (caps courtesy of rawr_caps- I did the combining, tho, as you can prob tell by the amateurish blends, lol)

I knew Montgomery knew something in that scene with just the change in his expression
So well-acted! Usually I'm all about the main characters, but he just rocked that! And it was wonderfully ambiguous, not being obvious 'I AM INVOLVED, LOOK AT ME, I'M SO SUSPICIOUS'.
to have done that one thing when he was young and to turn around and make his whole life about being someone better
YES. This is what I love so much about him! It'd be so easy to let that act define him and to dig his hole ever deeper but he went looking for redemption and pushed himself to do everything he could to be the best cop he could to make up for it- including mentoring Beckett, OMG.
I still wish we hadn't found out the idol have feet of clay, but it's such a powerful story.
really he was just a dumb rookie cop, it wasnt as if he was involved in the whole conspiracy
Well, he was snatching people and holding them for ransom. Okay, so they weren't killed, but I think they were beat up and they took money for it...so that's bad. I can't handwave that away. But I'm so glad he wasn't involved in killing the agent who died, 'coz that would've crossed the line. (and that he wasn't involved with Johanna Beckett's murder, 'coz that's just...you can't redeem him after that)
I just hate whoever 'he' is that held the strings and manipulated everyone. ARGH.
spent like 2 decades trying to make up for it and still failed. And Beckett still gets shot.
THIS. THIIIIIS. I almost felt worse that she got shot because he DIED TO PROTECT HER and she still got shot anyway. As opposed to feeling bad for her own sake, lol.
I was never the world's biggest Beckett fan and this episode kinda drove home why. She's so obnoxious. I know, I know, she's the muse, she has to be who she is but OMG, I wanted to slap her like 50 times.
I usually love Beckett, but I do hate when she gets so driven that she'll steamroller everyone else and go to this dark nasty place. And do really dumb and cliche things because she's OMGREALLYEMO. (I groaned in Knockdown where she slammed a guy against the wall and the glass actually cracked and then she had the nerve to get mad at Montgomery when he took her off the case! WTF. She's lucky he lets her investigate anything to do with her mom's murder, and then she blows it like that and she wants to be pissy with him? Unbelievable)
And I'm with you on everyone making Castle the sacrificial lamb nd then she reams him out and puts him on the spot like that, making him say things while she gets to say nothing but 'we're through'.
I'm glad you see it like that. So many people think she just wanted to hug it out and have a heart-to-heart and establish that they love each other and live HEA. No. I don't see it. She was bitter, she was angry, she wanted to hurt him- I can't see how that was about her being insecure or shy, it was her lashing out. Poor Castle.
I feel like she's been stringing a brother along for three years and didnt even have the decency to say I love you too before passing out. The nerve!
OMFG. *dies laughing* That...ha, that's really good. You're totally right. She was shot, but her vocal chords were still working, jeez!
I dont see it. I've tried to see it, tried to see how I could live with it but I cant yet. But if they can make Montgomery a baddie and still a goodie, they might be geniuses. I mean its not like we havent seen the good guy go bad and be good before but Montgomery....he was like the dad, it was so hard for me.
I don't want them together, like, EVENTUALLY, sure, but I never wanted it this soon and the show's really rushed a lot of their milestones. Can't move 'em back, though, so I'll wait and see how they handle it. Will Beckett remember? Will she 'forget'? I'm all kinds of curious.
And yeah, I hated what they did to Montgomery but it was clever. And really assured handling of characterization. As opposed to certain other shows. >:[
