I've minced, and curtsied, and rhymed

I WANT A DOGGIE!

My place soooo isn't ready for one yet though. Eventually.

Anywho, somehow I ended up watching some crappy special on planet green channel. And people have been muttering about the new herbal supplement/vitamin regs being proposed. So, had to get this little rant out.

Everyone always seems to be on one side or the other. No one ever talks about that happy medium that is where we should actually be.

Wind and solar power are good things. Recycling, good thing. Hybrid vehicles? Crap. Organic farming? Crap. Hybrid vehicles don't get any better mileage than some of the regular vehicles out there and they use more resources to make and when discarded part of their electric engine is toxic. Organic farming? Hmm, well, the fertilizer is usually cow manure, and cows are some of the worst creatures when it comes to effect on the environment. And organic farming probably won't be capable of feeding every person on the planet if we were to switch to it completely.

The regulation of herbal supplements. The problem with herbal supplements currently is the marketing. They should not be allowed to market as they do without proof of efficacy. Guess what, we don't need new regulation. Herbal supplements fall under the purview of existing federal agencies. Agencies that probably turn a relatively blind eye due to the fact that they have other things to do. Those agencies just need to pay a wee bit more attention. The last thing we need is yet another government agency regulating yet another thing in our lives. People want to kill themselves by quitting their chemo to take sage tea, let them. But let them do it because of willful ignorance, not because all they can find is advertising, not facts, about what the supplements will do.

Ok. I feel better now.

I'll save my rant about how Obama is the worst thing that could have happened to our economy for another day.
