I lost my cotton picking mind
Did anyone see Legend of the Seeker last night? Anyone. The hell? Okay. What were they thinking?
Different seeker, okay, yeah, they've been building to that but seriously? That guy? Could they find an uglier actor? Seriously, this is New Zealand, down under. The section of the world that produced Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger, and the guy who played Ares on Xena. And you hire that? At least Richard and Darkhen Rahl are pretty to look at. Heck, none of the extras from Spartacus that got killed in the first ep were available? At least they look manly instead of deformed. Seriously, did they not look at his misshapen face? Blech.
And then to make matters worse they're all but throwing Cara at him. Okay, many things wrong with that. First, look at her. She deserves much hotter than that (the extra she banged in that quick scene at the beginning of the season was cuter, Charisma Carpenter much hotter). Second, half the fun of her being there is her poking at Kahlan with the possibility that she will drag Richard off for kinky sex fun time (or Kahlan for kinky agiel S&M time). Third, I thought the idea was to make her nice, not neutered. Seriously, getting better and all that is all well and good but in no way should she be at the point where she is giggling over chipmunk jokes. CHIPMUNKS!! The mention of chipmunks alone made this ep a fail.
Now, I'm not just bashing the male casting in this ep. I know Jolene Blalock is supposed to be "hot" I know she has done everything else sci-fi in the last 5 years. Did they not stop to consider the fact that she has only done sci-fi because she doesn't have the acting chops to play anything but an alien? Although the Jolene breathing heavy with her chest thrust out while it heaves made it instantly obvious why she got hired. For the chest thrust forward and heaving. And that was it. Have the balls, LoTS casting team, to admit that is the reason you hired her. Because she has big fake boobs that you can drape clingy, gauzy red material over and has no problem with showing them. And again, if all you want is a hot chick with tits, couldn't you hire someone else? There's plenty out there. Some with acting ability. Look at Tabrett Bethell (Cara). She has almost no acting experience, yet she is loads better than Blalock. Bridget Regan (Kahlan) has a nice rack too, although she does have a decent amount of small acting gigs to explain the better acting. Heck, could you not afford Tricia Helfer? She was spectacular in BSG, when she had very little true acting experience, and she's got a great body, AND the name recognition with the geek set. Or was she too busy being hired for everything that Ms. Blalock couldn't pass the first audition for?
I'm not even going to get started on the piss poor writing, the obvious villains, the lazy set building, the sheer idiocy of the new seeker, and the sad shoehorn they used to introduce him to the crew.
Bad episode. If it wasn't for the little bit of set-up it creates for the next episode, I'd say just skip this.
In other news, watching figure skating always makes me feel a little bit like a pedophile. Even though I've been following the sport regularly since I was like 7. It just makes me think of the creepy guys watching Little League baseball at 2AM in the sports books at the casinos. Oh, while I'm at it, the new scoring system is a complete and utter fail. There is no way that Sasha Cohen, after all those falls, scored enough in the long free skate to get 4th. There is no way that Nagasu, after her near flawless performance, placed second after a girl who two-footed multiple times.
My TV watching is not supposed to piss me off like this.
