Uhh, foreshadowing much? Marguerite can read stuff there on the walls but doesn't know how? Either something wacky is going on or there is foreshadowing happening.

Yah, see, I don't know when they figured out where they were going with Marguerite's Chosen One status, [I don't think the Morrighan thing was determined til later] but this ability of hers is definitely intended as vague foreshadowing for something.

Some people have explained it in fics as a result of her eduction or whatever, but come on, seriously- deciphering languages that haven't existed in centuries, that she's never seen before? Give it up. That's some mystical ability going down, 'k? I don't buy the 'rational explanations' for this one. I just wish she got to do moooorrre. *pouts*

Stuff happens in ep 20 or 21, Prophecy [it's not a mythology ep, though, ignore the title] that I choose to construe in a way that favors the theory of her talents coming to the surface but it's very very VERY vague and 9/10 wishful thinking ( ... )

Lol, but it's cool either way, because no matter what they did they set up the framework for something, at least.

Oh please. Education? That's ridiculous. There is no way that somebody just gets a dead language popping into their head, automatically translated.
Unless they were trying to make it into some sort of Farscape crossover. :P
I say there are some things that defy explanation and rationale in fandom.

I just wish she got to do moooorrre. *pouts*

There had better be a whole lot of fanfic. *stamps foot again*

Agree on the two types of scene though. Both are important, and the angsty ones are great for more serious character development anyway. Not that fluffy ones can't be, but it seems like the really serious emotional ones work well for learning the characters.

*snort* I am a leaf on the wind.
Except in this. I'm gonna go for chronological.

I really want to read TLW crossovers. There was this one HP/TLW fic but...meh. It was okay, but not that special. I kinda want to do an SGA/TLW fic, but I got like, four pages in and then gave up. *headdesk* I like the planning stage but execution? Not my thing.

I say there are some things that defy explanation and rationale in fandom.

Aliens the universe over speaking English in Stargate!verse definitely qualifies. It was so silly and illogical they just didn't even bother to justify it, lol.

There had better be a whole lot of fanfic.

I can rec you a whole lot of authors/fics. I saved everything I could find and then sorted them into folders of 'awesome', 'good' and 'okayish'. Did I mention I like organizing?

Although when I think about it, Salvation had a good example of an emotional/light-hearted scene. On the riverbank, when Marguerite was talking about being forgotten and he was all, 'I'll never forget ( ... )

The crossovers are the thing that gets me, because here is a fandom that can be crossed over with just about any other fandom without being questioned as to whether that's possible, because the whole thing is impossible and therefore everything is possible. It's awesome. ♥

Aliens the universe over speaking English in Stargate!verse definitely qualifies.

Farscape had it right with the translator microbes. *nods* If you're gonna make it so you can understand everybody, at least give some sort of viable explanation.
The other thing I don't get though, is why all the bad guys on Stargate have British accents.

LOOL.. No, you? Like orgazing? Pshaw. :P
I see what you mean with the fics though, because I read a couple on ff.net [*gasp!* that were great, and a few where I ran away before I could get more than a few sentences in.]

...but then she smirks, 'Lot of good that'll do me when you're digested by some prehistoric nightmare' and all of a sudden, the emotional bit is over and we're back to snarky wise-ass moments.*grin* They can ' ( ... )

WORD. That's my favorite thing about it all!

all the bad guys on Stargate have British accents.

*snorts* I never noticed that...well, I guess because like, Middle Eastern people get all tetchy at their portrayal in Western entertainment, when the writers are all, 'Oh, we need a bad guy, hey, I know, cast a suspicious Arab looking foreigner, yeah!' So TPTB decided to go with a less controversial theme? :P

gasp!* that were great, and a few where I ran away before I could get more than a few sentences in.

The first fic I read on ff.net was so awful it put me off TLW for a few months. Then I got desperate and went back in with a vengeance, lol. I can't stand fics that are like, 'Marguerite looked over at the man she loved'- GODDAMNIT, THERE'S NO WAY SHE'S ADMITTING THAT TO HERSELF, STFU. Even Roxton wouldn't think ( ... )

That's because Western entertainment always has to make it be the Middle Eastern people. It's annoying. I went back and read a bunch of fanfics that I remembered from right when I first got introduced to fandom, by way of JAG. Several of them ended up using that cliche, and there was even that story arc with Sadik Fahd. I'd never noticed it before, being that I was younger and payed less attention to these things.

I can't stand fics that are like, 'Marguerite looked over at the man she loved'- GODDAMNIT, THERE'S NO WAY SHE'S ADMITTING THAT TO HERSELF, STFU. Even Roxton wouldn't think like that, at least, not for the first two seasons. Thank you! Seriously what the frak is up with the fics where they're suddenly all lovey dovey halfway through season one? I saw several such and turned tail ( ... )

Speaking of crossovers- we were!- I was just watching Absolute Power today, and OMG, firstly, D'ARGO! I mentioned Gigi in season 2 and totally forgot about Anthony Simcoe! *shameface* Secondly, DANIEL and Stargate's Absolute Power, lol. Thirdly, the sparks of that SGA/TLW crossover I'm thinking about [and in all likelihood, will never actually do, but hey...] have been fanned into life again because they mention Atlantis in this ep and Challenger touches some ancient [lower-case 'ancient' but still!] device that bathes him in light and gifts him with preternatural abilities, winding up with his displays of awesome power and also hurting people he cares about! Sound familiar? Like any other arrogant scientists we both know? *flails* This makes me really wish I was more dedicated to writing because the connection between the Plateau and Ancients could be retconned into canon, lol.

*giggles* I'm coming to the conclusion that all tv shows share their actors. It's the only way to explain why people keep popping up like this. Okay, then we need to come up with an explanation for this, because I'm curious. And because Rodney meeting Challenger would be just my kind of hilarious crack. Imagine the arguments!
Get thee to explaining! :P

A good point about entertainment reflecting the fears of society, by the way. It's very true that people often make tv reflect the things that are going on. Sadly, it influences popular perception and perpetuates more sterotypes than it has any right to. *grumbles*

Bloody writers that don't have any insight into the characters. *grumbles* They have to be possessed or drugged to be like that, for frak's sake!AGREE. I don't even know these characters very well and it bugs me, how do YOU survive it ( ... )

Get thee to explaining! :PSorry, bb, but if, IF I do this fic, I'm afraid it's going to concentrate mainly on M/R and Sparky. I find it hard enough to write the characters I love and worship, let alone sideline pplz, you know ( ... )

*giggles* Quick question, in Birthright did Marguerite say, "Don't worry about me, Gunga Den can fend for herself." I wasn't sure if I was hearing it right or not, and either way I cracked up, but seriously. ♥

And this: "What good is honor to you if you're too dead to enjoy it?" That quote needs to be my new motto, because at times I get just a wee bit too hung up on being good. *facepalm*

"If it means anything, I'm proud of you."/"Thank you. It doesn't."

PS, the ending with the banter and Marguerite and Roxton being flirty and throwing a towel, lol.

I'm thinking of doing some text icons of some of the quotes, whatcha think? Any requests?

Sorry, bb, but if, IF I do this fic, I'm afraid it's going to concentrate mainly on M/R and Sparky.

*smirky* Erm, you don't seriously think I'm gonna complain about this, right? That's kind of a reason for flailing right there. And my mind has gone to it's happy place at the thought of John and... John in the same room. Can we say 'eye candy?' ;P

do you think Team Sparky would show off all ( ... )

Okay, she does indeed say that but...*wibbles* I don't understand! I googled it and it doesn't make any sense! [If it's the Gunga Din from the Rudyard Kipling poem, that is]

What good is honor to you if you're too dead to enjoy it?" That quote needs to be my new motto, because at times I get just a wee bit too hung up on being good.

I love that quote! Although I'm concerned at the implication that you're actually facing life-and-death situations. In any case, learn from Marguerite the Flexibly Principled! BE BAAAAAD. /enabling. :P

You know, I really didn't like that ep, in fact, I kinda hated it at first because I was despairing at Marguerite getting played. *woes* She's the player, damn it, wtf, writers?! But zomg, that ENDING. In one of santacrux's reviews, she said something to the effect that TLW wouldn't be as enjoyable without these epilogues, after the adventure is done, when they're all winding down, trading stories, just chilling. That final scene makes the ep for me, like, I swung to totally liking it. :D

I'm thinking ( ... )

Hm. I feel that this is some vague reference to something that I should understand, but sadly I don't know what. Maybe I'll ask my brother, he knows all sorts of weird trivial bits.

Although I'm concerned at the implication that you're actually facing life-and-death situations. In any case, learn from Marguerite the Flexibly Principled! BE BAAAAAD.

Well, not usually. That is to say, it's pretty rare. My life is vanilla except for the randomly unexpected times when it isn't. And this comment gives me the giggles.

As much as I wasn't crazy about Marguerite getting played, I think it was a good character moment. I'm just trying to figure out why, at the moment. And the epilogue made the episode, definitely. Otherwise it was kind of 'meh'.

*hugs you tight* One of these days I'm going to kidnap you, alright? Just giving you fair warning so you can pack a bag ahead of time. :P

I asked my mother and grandmother- apart from recognizing the name and mentioning a movie, they had no wisdom to impart. :[

And this comment gives me the giggles.

Hmm, maybe we're both funnier than we give ourselves credit for? Because you make me laugh and you claim not to be a witty person, and same here, so... it's not us, it's the rest of the world that's the problem, we're underappreciated!

Hmm, well, she put Challenger in his place when she was convincing the men to accompany her.

'Gold - glory we’re all driven by something... o do whatever it takes to convince yourself you’re being noble; we leave in an hour.'

That was fun. They all delude themselves that they're better than her and I like the rare moments when she stops them lying to themselves, even if it isn't permanent.

I like this idea! It means the rest of the world should bow to our superior funny skills! *nods*

Yes! Because everybody has a motivation for what they do, and sometimes we like to think of a certain motivation as more noble or whatever. *shrug*

I shall indeed pack a bag, 'in case of kidnapping', lol.

Excellent. Now will it be less conspicuous if there's a poof of smoke and you vanish from the tennis court or... wait, don't answer that. :P

I really wish we would've gotten to see John Sheppard running from dinosaurs. That would have been pretty much priceless.

Ha, I was reading your speculation and going, 'Bwah-?' I kinda forget that we don't really share a brain because we're always on the same page, and so on rare occasions, even though logically I know you couldn't possibly know something, I'm all confuzzled that you're not aware of it, regardless. *facepalm*

This is all sketchy and subject to editing, but the basic idea is that Shep unconsciously activates an Ancient device that opens a pathway to the Plateau. At first, I was wondering WHY the Plateau, out of all the possible alternate realities, and then it hit me- maybe it wasn't an accident, maybe it was deliberate. There was passage between the universes before and he found the key ( ... )
