Ranty rant rant

So, umm, I bought The OMAC Project last week. Am I a bad person if I liked it? I mean, Ted dying sucks and all, but I think I'm mostly ignoring that bit, which is made very much easier by the fact that he was already dead when I got into this fandom. I have also discovered that I really like Evil!Max. Which is not to say that I don't like Regular!Max, but, you see, I have two big "things" that just make me love villians: villians who believe that they're doing the right thing, even if they have to do the wrong thing to do it, and villians who are just absolute evil bastards, and somehow, Evil!Max manages to hit both of those points, and I'm just like, "You shot Ted, so why can't I hate you? D: WRRRRRRYYYYYYY?" I think part of it's because I've mentally replaced the "I was always evil, mwaha!" with "I was never too particularly balanced and Sue's death tipped me right over the edge!" I mean, it's not exactly a good explination, so much as a better one.... Hrm. I mean, that part where the rest of Checkmate's royal family are carrying out their assassination plot, and Max goes, "Freeze. God, I've always wanted to say that." I'm just like *Flails!* *Loves!* And, yeah. Now I really want Evil!Max fic. And may just have to write some. :/

Random thought: It occured to me at random, that when Ted tells the nurse to tell Booster that it's not his fault, it's kind of ironic, because when you really think about it, in a slight sort of way, it is Booster's fault; Booster's the one who suggested going to Max for help, which might've alerted Max to the fact that, oh, hey Ted's not going to take all his monies being stolen lying down. :/ I do not particularly like this train of thought, and yet it will not go away.

Also, Jesus Saiz? Wins at art, 'K? Pretty Booster! <3

Anyway, I've got this charming habit of trying to force all my new fandoms on my best friend, Sara. So I brought OMAC to school for her to read. Which made my friends discuss DC superheroes. Of particular note was my buddy Becca, who noticed Peej and noted that she reminded her of Galatea from JLU, except she couldn't remember the name, so she just described her. So I was like, "Yeah, Galatea. She was totally based off Peej." And then Becca proceeded to inform me that her favorite JLU episode was the one about "Buster Gold." I think she was going to continue along this thought, but my automatic response was "BOOSTER GOLD! BOOSTER!" I think I scared the poor girl. Thankfully, that's not too terribly abnormal, and we promptly proceeded to discuss the awesome of Skeets and I told her he was evil in current comic continuity. Hmmm... in retrospect, I probably should've told her that Booster getting called "Buster" in regular continuity happens about as frequently as he got called "Green Lantern" in JLU; maybe that would've made my reaction more understandable. And hilarious to somebody who isn't me.

So, right, I gave OMAC to Sara and was like, READ EET. She got to about halfway through the bit with Oracle before she declared Ted to be the awesomest, and I was like, "Oooooh, you're gonna hate the ending." She got to the part where the Madmen attack Ted before we had to go to Band, so I told her to at the very least, finish Countdown before we got to lunch, because she'd need to rant. When next I saw her after 2nd block the conversation went a little something like this:
Sara: He's not dead.
AF: Hm? Oh, you finished Countdown?
Sara: I finished all of it. He's not dead.
AF: Of course not. It's only a bullet to the head; he'll get better!
Sara: Right!
:D Lawlz, us. I then proceeded to tell her about soothing fire naps and somebody's sig that I've seen recently that said "9 years until Blue Beetle Rebirth!" Any discussion we have involving Ted now has to have a mention that Ted's just having a soothing fire nap and making a sandwich. :D

So I brought the Superbuddies stuff to band yesterday for her to read. And all my other friends looked at them, too. They saw the cover to I Can't Believe It's Not The Justice League, and promptly declared Peej to be a lesbian. Classy! :D They also decided that Guy has the bestest facial expressions ever. And I tried to explain to them why the last panel of ICBINTJL is the saddest panel in comic books ever, but I'm not entirely sure they were really paying attention. I mostly pointed it out to Sara anyway. She also immediately decided that she doesn't like Ted's reverse-color costume.

So, umm, I say "so" a LOT. I seriously suck at transitions. :/

scans_daily is having a DCAU week (or was, at least), so that put me in the mood to watch "The Greatest Story Never Told" since, y'know, I haven't since I saw it on TV over a year ago, and it's the reason I totally <3 Booster, so I dug it up on YouTube, and it's even better than I remember it being. Part of this is because I get all of the comics references, and can appreciate it more, and stuff. Like Booster being specifically from 2462, instead of just a general "25th century", and Booster not liking teleporters (though that may be a coincidence) and Fire and Ice and Captain Atom and Ralph appearing. Ralph doesn't quite sound like the Ralph in my head, though, although I don't think I'd be able to tell you what the Ralph in my head sounds like.... If that makes any sense, which it probably doesn't. :/ Same thing for Captain Atom, while I'm at it. Hrm. Teehee. "Maybe they needed a vase." Oh, Skeets. I miss not-evil you. "She's beautiful! And in distress, my favorite kind of damsel!" Oh, Booster. I miss not-dead you. Holy! Dmitri shows up, too! He does, I just saw him! Right at the end of Batman's chat with Booster at the end, he picks up a rock and flies away! How... unexciting! And yet I still went, "Ooo! Dmitri!" Such a nerd. :B

But really, watching that episode makes me happy. Because it's just so perfectly Boosteriffic, y'know? I remember looking him up on Wikipedia after I saw this, too, and being all like, "lol comics continuity, you so wacky" after I read his article. And now, here I am, a year or so later, and I know his continuity. Funny how stuff works, huh? :D

Anyways, I given up on NaNoWriMo already. :/ Robin!Booster has a hold of my brainmeats and doesn't want to hand them over to Maxwell, who doesn't seem to particularly want to get them, anyway. :/ Grr.

Doodles!

I've no witty commentary for this.

Random practice in folds, hands, and differentiating between characters. Yay.

It's the 5th of November, ya know, so everybody on the Superdickery forums is slapping Guy Fawkes masks on their avatars, as V for Vendetta is quite cool and whatnot, so I slapped a Guy Fawkes mask on my current avatar as well, Evil!Skeets. I just really like the way it looks. :B

New official Ted icon. To kinda sorta go with the Booster "I'll be in my bunk" one. Of course, if Ted's Wash, I have no idea who on Earth would be Zoe... :/ I think I've decided that J'onn's Book, though, if only for the mental image of J'onn telling somebody that they're going to the special hell.

MAN, CAN I RANT ABOUT MEANINGLESS STUFF OR WHAT?

comics, booster gold, nanowrimo, skeets, real art, dc, superheroes, jlu, the question, doodles, maxwell lord
