Title: A drastic change [4/?]
Pairing: Eunhyuk/Donghae (Eunhae) maybe more in future chapters.
Rating: PG-13 in this chapter
Summary: There is a mystery surrounding a monster that's turning people into werewolves and murdering them after their first shift, Eunhyuk is asked to investigate the issue with the help of the only victim that could be saved and brought into a pack. Too bad that Eunhyuk hates packs and Donghae has very bad instincts. AU of course
Warnings: Some violence, werewolves, bad words.
A/N: Hello again! I'm sorry for the wait, these last weeks have been chaotic as hell, and I wont be too optimistic about the rest of this month ~___~ anyways, as you have noticed, my gorgeous beta isn't credited up there, this is because I was too impatient and not willing to be a pain in the ass to her when I know she's also very busy, so bare with the mistakes you see, I'll edit it corrected as soon as possible, if you see anything too horrible please comment and I'll correct it to stop hurting eyes 8D;;;
I loved writing this chapter, so I hope you enjoy it too!~ and if you have time to comment I will be really happy :3 ENJOY!

Hyukjae tripped, fell, got tangled, cut himself, and got bruises over really stupid things all the time. Donghae only noticed that small flaw in the character of his alleged savior on the morning of the day after the revelation of him begin still in danger of murder.
Donghae never had someone else's character so wrong in his life.
Jungsoo and Hangeng agreed for Donghae to sleep in Hyukjae's room (without the latter's consent because in the beta's words, who cares), and made some improvised bed on the floor for him in which Hyukaje ended up sleeping after some bickering.
Donghae finally could watch the other for a long amount of time, and noticed that “cool” or “badass” where really not words to describe Hyukjae, at least not in a relatively normal environment.
He doubted that someone cool could trip over the same thing thrice in less than five minutes, or have dragon ball socks for that matter.
“Don't tell me your underwear has teddy bears or something like that, Hyukjae.” he said feeling some sort of dismay after a wave of revelations that came to him in such a short amount of time.
“Of course not.” said the other distractedly while brushing his teeth; Donghae sighed in relief. “It's strawberries.”
When Hyukjae smiled and some toothpaste drool slipped from his mouth, Donghae started to doubt his safety.
The night before had been uneventful after their short meeting with Jungsoo and Hangeng, Hyukjae was exhausted and didn't even bother to change before falling sleep on the bed growling Donghae something that sounded like 'don't come close to me if you don't want nasty surprises, good night, and don't wake me up.' Donghae was actually (for some odd reason he couldn't explain) really tired too. It didn't took him long to fall asleep and wake up to Hyukjae's parade of stupidity.
“You're really lame, Hyukjae, why didn't I notice before?” He said that morning without thinking, because, really, being sleepy was really bad for his restrain, and intelligence. Hyukjae just looked at him without expression.
“Ask Hageng-hyung, I'm sure you two can share impressions about my flaws.” Said the other simply while folding his clothes neatly. Donghae panicked.
“I'm sorry! I didn't... I was.... I just...” He heard a soft chuckle and met a smirk on Hyukjae's face. “...you're... you're not... you know, angry?”
Hyukjae shrugged while focusing on his collection of hats, his hands touching each of them and Donghae found himself staring the action with attention “I don't really care about what people think about me” he said finally stopping in front of a gray hat with a black feather on a side. “and you're stupid when you wake up so your blatant honesty is slightly amusing”
“I'm not the one that trips over the same pair of shoes thrice on the same day.” Donghae was sure that Hyukjae was about to reply (he wasn't sure if the reply was going to be violent, tough), when a phone suddenly rang. “Aren't you going to pick that up?” he added slowly.
“...Right” Carefully, Hyukjae picked up the phone as if it was a bomb “Hello?” and suddenly his face relaxed and a smirk crossed his face “Oh it's you, I'm busy right now, you know, how is it that you always call when I'm busy or on the verge of dying?” A laugh and some silence “About what?” More silence, and suddenly Hyukjae's face got serious “Yes, but it must wait until tomorrow night.” He sent a look at Donghae “I'll call you, don't do anything stupid, or at least anything stupid that I wouldn't do.” he hang up sighing heavily
“What was that about?”
“A contact, she...uh, has some sort of information that can help your case, she wanted us to meet today.”
“And why don't you go?” Hyukjae looked at him like he was sprouting horns.
“Today's your shift, you idiot, I'm not leaving you alone.”
“Oh...”
“We're going to see her tomorrow night, now get up and lets get some food.”
Hyukjae was gone before Donghae could even process the information.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
No one could tell precisely how did the shift feel, it was unique for everyone, the pain and the uncomfortable feeling before were similar, but as people coped with pain in various ways, the shift was also as different as there were werewolves in the world.
Donghae felt jumpy and stressed, he wanted to punch and kick things, and from time to time people. He wanted to bite, to scratch, to run away. And only half a day had passed.
Hyukjae was patient, but couldn't be with Donghae all the time, Hangeng and Jungsoo also kept him company, since the others were restless with the growing presence of someone stressed and on edge in the house and the wolf in Donghae was terrified of almost everyone too.
Donghae was starting to consider biting his arm off, when Hyukjae appeared next to him.
“Lets take a walk before someone murders you.” he said simply.
Going out the house and walking next to the forest helped Donghae, suddenly all the tension in his muscles was almost completely gone, he opted to walk next to Hyukjae because something in the way the other smelled made him feel more at peace.
|“I... can feel your smell.” He said suddenly.
“Of course you do, you always did, but right now, your body recognizes it as “smell” and not as“feel” it's part of the shift.”
“So when I was in your room and I stopped being scared...”
“You smelled something that made you feel calmer, yes.”
“I bet it wasn't your socks...” He received a smack as a reply.
“Shut up, I can still leave you here alone, you know.” Hyukjae was smiling a little, so Donghae had to doubt how honest was that threat.
They spent a few hours like that until Donghae couldn't help but scratch his arm violently while feeling like something wanted to crawl out his skin. “I feel like I'm going to die.”
“It's ok, we only have a few hours until the full moon and your shift, just try to relax a little.”
“Easy for you to say.” He wanted to cry, and scream, and laugh, and maybe hurt himself, and hurt Hyukjae, maybe cling to him a little too, he opted for scratching his arm. “This sucks...” He heard the other sigh loudly before coming closer to Donghae.
“Lets try something.” was the only thing he could hear before being wrapped in a warm embrace, Hyukjae's smell filling his nostrils made his body relax suddenly and he heard a small whimper that he couldn't believe came from his own throat, something akin to embarrassment crossed his mind but right now it was more relevant to cling to the other as if his life depended to it.
It sure felt like it.
Both were silent for a while, Donghae didn't know how much time had passed but after a while even Hyukjae's hug wasn't comfortable. The other should have felt it, because he let go, expression unreadable.
Donghae got scared.
“No!” was the first thing he said while grabbing Hyukjae's arm “don't... don't go... I'm... I...don't...”
“I'm not leaving, I told you I was going to be with you in all of this, right? Try to calm down” Donghae felt like crying again, he was scared of all of this, the shift was horrible and he wasn't sure if he wanted to feel like this again. He was clinging to Hyukjae's arm, who was awfully calm. Donghae wanted to punch him. “Breathe, it's almost time.”
Time was passing in an odd way, he wasn't sure if hours, minutes or days were passing, he couldn't remember when he got there, when did Hyukjae ordered him to strip, when did he ended up sitting on Hyukjae's lap while the other petted his hair. Everything hurt so much.
And suddenly, a scream and blackness.
He woke up still as a human, still naked on top of Hyukjae that was looking at him worriedly.
“It's time.” said the other simply as he helped the other from his lap to a sitting position on the grass.
The first thing he felt was a tingling sensation in his belly that crawled all over his body, it was nice, like sparks massaging him whole. Until they started to burn him violently, destroying his skin, he could feel them breaking his bones, making his blood boil, breaking him completely, and he couldn't even scream because there was something in his throat hurting him too.
He was dying, he could feel it.
It felt like an eternity before he could feel something besides pain, it was warm, he was naked, he knew he left his clothes next to a tree, but he was warm, he tried to look at himself, first his hands.
There weren't any hands, just paws, big hairy paws. Suddenly he remembered; shift, change, wolf, human. He shifted.
“You look good.” He felt his ear twitch in attention and turned to see Hyukjae smiling at him, something inside him felt warm at the sight of the other “How are you feeling?” He let go a small whimper, because it hurt like hell.
The rational part of him told him he should feel tired, but everything was so new and he was more than eager to try his new form. Hyukjae came closer “Chocolate, it fits you.” he said while examining Donghae's fur “OK, wanna test your new legs?”
A few minutes later two wolves were running around, Hyukjae as some sort of leader (Donghae, with his nose, noticed that Hyukjae was in no way an alpha or even a beta wolf) led the way, showing the younger the wonders of being a wolf, they drank water from a river, he taught him how to hunt, how to eat fresh meat, and even if a few hours later, Donghae as human would feel nauseous at the thought of killing and eating a rabbit, as a wolf he was thrilled.
Donghae saw the moon and felt a profound sadness that led him to howl with passion at the satellite, he howled and heard some response from other dogs and wolves around, his pain flooded from his throat and as a wolf he didn't understand very much what was all that sadness inside him, he just wanted to let it go.
Hyukjae was a quiet figure next to him all the time.
~*~*~*
It didn't took much more for Donghae to feel exhausted, and Hyukjae led the way to their clothes, they shifted (Donghae noticed it wasn't as painful) and changed quietly.
“Let's go” said Hyukjae smiling “The others will ask you everything tomorrow, so you need to rest.” He only nodded, not trusting his voice, everything was so strange, he was still Lee Donghae, he knew it, but something was also different, he didn't notice when he started to cling on Hyukjae's arm again.
The other didn't say a word.
When they were finally in their room (and Hyukjae managed to hit himself with one of his bags) Donghae felt much better.
“Thank you.”
“Shut up.”
“...What?”
“Don't say thank you, or I'll kick your ass, now go to sleep.”
“...You're so weird.”
“That's more like it, now sleep.”
“Hyukjae?”
“What?”
“Will it be alright?”
“... I don't know.”
“I'm scared.”
“I know.”
“You should lie to me.”
“I know, but I wont.”
“...Hyukjae?”
“What?”
“Can I sleep with you?”
And he did.
