...been up and down recently and HAVE to thank the liquer lover who has supported me loads despite probably needing support of his own at times. Cheers F.
feeling pretty bouncy and positive at the moment which signifies the likelihood of bi polarity, sure we are all susceptible at times and this is just my turn at it.
Yesterday found a brilliant coffee shop/cafe in Ledbury,Herefordshire called Ice Bytes. Apart from IT options and training they have an easy clean floor (great with kids) lots of squishy sofas, chess, dominos, backgammon and card games to play. The food is brilliant (with a flexible menu) excellent coffee and the hot strawberry milkshakes we like to request to confuse people. there is also a spacious area with a brio type train track and lots of toys in boxes to entertain kids while adults chill with the papers (or vice versa if thats how you like it)
I got thrashed ( ha!) at Chess, I never claimed to be good, just to know the rules, but my 9 yr old beat me fair and square. Then i challenged him to best of three games of dominoes (this meant i was now into my second coffee!) and lost two of them :(
Today we went swimming, or mucking around in the pool.I negotiated cheap tickets, despite receptionist not knowing about low income family discounts (I can be either quite persuasive or she didnt care!). We had two hours splashing about, no waves and no slide but plenty of balls, floats, toys and space.
Once dressed and drinking coffee (again) Jon walked in, the maintenance guy, who was there when i worked there. I know hes always had a soft spot for me (so to speak) and decided id try my luck with him - no not that!!!!!!
So Sebi and I got a tour of the plant filtration room. We saw the route that the water takes for cleaning. we saw where it is cleaned and learned how (sand filters) then its passed through ozone (thats a tri atomic allotrope for those who dont know) and then filtered through carbon to remove any ozone, which isnt allowed back into the pool. We learned how the wave machine works, to a point that we could build one - brilliant- and how the ozone is generated. Apparently when electricity /lightning passes through oxygen it creates another molecule and changes from O2 to O3, that is then used (in this situation) to clean the bacteria from the water.
From my previous role i remembered that they add chlorine to a dilution of 1 part per million, to avoid any cross contamination and fit in with water cleanliness rules.
The whole pool is heated by a tiny heater which would fit in my car!, seriously no bigger than a car radiatior it maintains the pool temp of 64`. Sorry to anyone who used the pool when i worked there and complained it was cold. I would always tell the customers "I'll just turn it up for you" they were always pleased, and i often asked as they left and they would tell me how much better it was. If it takes 3 minutes to heat a pint of water, how long do you think it would take to heat 14,000,000 gallons? well some people seemed to think it was instant. if you were one of them, sorry i misled you, but it had to be done.
happy new year to all and sundry.
