Metrocon was a bust in some aspects....If I only I didn't have the cosplay sickness, it would be so easy to quit the con scene. Maybe I'll try a sci fi convention. Female Han Solo? Yay? Nay?

I actually have work to do but I'm feeling exceptionally unmotivated. Seems like half the office is out again...Good old California living. And speaking of california living- We had an earthquake on Tuesday.

Kind of bizzare. A commuter train passes right outside the building and at my cube (god, isn't it horrible? I work in a frickin' cubical at 22), I can feel a little vibration as it goes by. So Tuesday, near noon, train goes by, little rumble. Only little rumble turns into actual rumble. And I'm just sitting there for the five, seven seconds that it goes on thinking, "Oh, it's an earthquake...Right?..Well....Do I get under my desk or....? How long is this thing gonna go anyway?" So I sit through it and then it stops. Don't hear anything for a few seconds until someone says something like, 'Everybody outside!" and by that time, there's me and maybe three other people left on our floor of the building. So, yeah, there's some common knowledge I missed out on.

Anyway, we sat outside for a few minutes while security checked the building for gas leaks or some crap then we go back in. Apparently the center was only about 15 miles away, a 5.4 on the scale so not bad. And strangly, the earthquake itself didn't scare me but there was a little aftershock later that made my heart leap in my throat.

Only one person in the office was freaking out after the actual earthquake and that was our very stereotypical secretary- she's young, wears lots of make up that she touches up all day, wears tight, sexy clothing, and as far as I can tell? Her job is to occasionally take a paper hear or there, order name plates when the very occasional new employee starts, and constantly flirt with Rudy, one of the young engineers. Don't get me wrong, she's nice and all. But it's like she just hoped right out of tv. The only reason I don't think she's a robot is that her smile isn't quite a white picket fence. Granted, I might be the only one looking that far north.
