I had a pretty good day today. I slept in a bit, did a smidgen of workish stuff, and a bit of shopping. Then it was off to
buzz's birthday party. It was plenty of fun for me, and hopefully
buzz had a good time to. :) I got to see
bonefig again for the first time since college. We all played some Rock Band (as usual) and there was snacking and eventually actual dinner (including a never ending pasta salad). At some point
triskele and
buzz went off to look for a nearby geocache, which was apparently not there, while those remaining played some more Rock Band, and once they came back and we finished the set everyone went in to play Cthulhu Munchkin. I hadn't played Munchkin before, but everyone was fairly helpful, at least early on. Then I voluntarily took the Cultist class, after which I think people became a bit more suspicious. :) I started my recruiting drive with
catwithbell at her request. Soon we'd taken over almost the entire table, though
buzz was far in the lead. He either wasn't thinking about what he was saying or he forgot the importance of the woman scorned factor, (not sure if that's the best word for it, but regardless I think it was fairly key when playing against 4 women and 1 other man) which took him from "haha now I'll win the game" to "wait, where'd my lead go?", and it was really starting to look like
catwithbell would win the game (despite having been a madly kleptomaniacal since the start) when I finally got just the chance to play the cards I'd been secreting away. Most of the smackdown-esque cards had just been used against
buzz, so I knew that although everyone would definitely bring out everything remaining against me, I stood a good chance of making it. It ended up that I needed every card I'd saved up, but I had played the cards just right and I won! Hooray! The downside is that I won't be able to rely on my munchkin-virgin-osity next time to help me along, and I don't think I can rely on looks or boyish charm either, so I'll need to come up with some other strategy. :) I'd definitely play it again though.
When I got home I took care of the furballs and let Nibbler Bunny out to play without the cats in the room. This probably isn't funny to anyone who isn't familiar with the layout of my bedroom, but Nibbler was bouncing around on the bed and he spotted the back scratcher we have hanging on the wall behind the bed. He bounced over to it, removed it from its hook, pulled it through the bars of the headboard, and then proceeded to run off with his wonderful stolen treasure. It was very cute.
