Team Badass, Day 6, Dismal Cave

[Archie and Red have visited five dungeons so far, and they've been successful in each. As a result, well... They're getting pretty confidant. They've relied largely on type advantages, but they work together pretty well... So now they're going to try a hard dungeon where they won't have type advantages. Dismal Cave

[Well that was unexpected. These places haven't had great names, but Dismal Cave? Being blind is pretty dismal. It's a shame that Dark-types can't see in the dark.]

...Jeez, is the whole place like this?

[They've been to dark and dim dungeons before, but nothing with this low visibility. Thanks to level grinding like this is Nuzlocke, Red is in his low thirties. Reds are known to train and train. At any rate, he can't see in the dark, and he isn't a bat, so this is a pretty bad situation, given his normal circumstances.]

... There's a good chance it will. Cover your ears, I'm going to put any enemies in here to sleep. [... Do fish even have ears? Whatever, let's assume this has worked before.]

[Red's certainly a higher level than Archie, but his addiction to training has helped him stay alive this long.]

Carvanhas don't have ears. [But that's not going to stop Red. Archie immediately zips a good distance away so that he won't be affected by the move - nearly ramming straight into a Shuppet. A Bite attack takes care of that easily.]

The Distortion Tunnel one is up!

... Then how are you even hearing me speak?

[Well, hopefully enemies in the immediate area are now asleep while they figure this out. Let's just... Try to figure out how many Luminous Orbs they have...]

[Archie returns quickly, taking out a few of the weaker enemies with Bite. The ones he can't knock out immediately are left alone for the time being.]

How the hell are we gonna find the stairs if we can't even see? [Oh, the Luminous Orbs! That's a great idea! ...Uh, there aren't that many, are there?]

... We should conserve the orbs for if we really need them. We'll have to wander around blind... Keep a... Whatever Carvahas have instead of ears... Out for enemies, and keep a fin on a wall. And stay close, we don't want to get separated.

[How many floors was this supposed to be again? Definitely more than their four Luminous Orbs... Red will start moving in a straight line, trying to find a wall.]

Right; better to be safe than sorry. [Archie follows Red at first, but Red is unfortunately slower than Archie and it isn't long before he starts zipping ahead and retracing his steps so as not to get too far ahead of Red.]

[This would have worked decently well if it weren't for the fact that ghosts don't need to stay on the actual floor and can float over those chasms that are supposedly walls in this place. Archie is suddenly licked by a Gastly, which immediately causes him to freeze up with Paralysis.] Gah--! Disgusting...!

.. Which side is it on?! I'll get it... [If he knows where it is, he'll aim an Ice Beam.]

L-left--! [Yep, he's stuck in place for the time being (is this really how Paralysis works?), sorry Red.]

[Red has to aim carefully in the darkness. He doesn't want to hit you, after all, not with his level. So once he aims... He'll fire a nice Ice Beam.]

[The Ice Beam misses Archie by a decent margin and strikes the opposing Pokemon, knocking it flying. Archie recovers shortly, but by the time he's ready to fight, the Pokemon has already fled.] That's odd. [Normally they stick around until they've fainted.]

... Huh... This happened with a few of the others in other dungeons, right? [Like Doduo...]

... We should just focus on finding the stairs and not linger. Can you move? [He can't exactly... Judge what he can't see, can he?]
