I like history.

I feel forever fascinated by the concept of history-

whether that be layers of peeled paint:

Tessa and I belong to this somewhat embarrassing community. This is where I know Tessa from. As with this post, there is a history (a story, an explanation) there.

http://community.livejournal.com/beautyandbitch/

And well, I devote more of my time/energy there than anyone thinks is reasonable. And I tell you this because I am thinking seriously about creating/developing my own website. (And I just did a lot of light image-text combo design-y things for the first time & it's making me somewhat excited to push myself into understanding more about web design/development.) One would be for apolitical nonsense (like you do) and one for painting (I need to make money and I believe that people will pay me for the painting that I will do and the website will be used as reference for people interested in seeing past, future and ongoing work. The deal is that I don't make any money now and I need to make some and the job I interviewed for isn't getting back to me and didn't give me any set time; so that leaves me in limbo. So I will paint!)

So-

I may be asking you questions related to this whole thing in the future. I don't think the painting website should be WordPress, as I don't envision it being a blog sort of thing, but a gallery with links like my art friends (who actually stuck with it) all have:

I can't believe Tessa's still into that community. When I met her some zillion years ago, she was talking about it nonstop, and a few of her friends from there became my friends until they imploded from being too Russian and from accidentally having babies and such. Communities are where it's at, and I'd love to find one that really feels homey to me.

I can't believe you called my writing "nonsense".

Obviously, I'm 200% in favor of these websites, especially ones that will get you jobs designing cover art for the Felice Brothers like Todd Rawson did. It's so cheap to put your name in a domain and looks so nice. My, uh, brother-in-law does website design, if you, uh, want to pay someone to design for you. Otherwise, I'll help out in any way I can by Googling answers to anything you might ask me.

Thanks for your offer of help. I'm lucky to know a lot of people who have done this very thing. So hopefully, I'll be able to understand what it is they tell me and I can do all this. I just paid $40 to register two variations of my actual name for two years. So that means I have to do this now.

I use "nonsense" liberally. 99% of the world can potentially be referred to as "nonsense" at any given time.

Folks seem to like the adiml (a day in my life) communities, but those things are huge. B&B is dying or in some perpetually lulled, zombified state whereby a very small handful of folks participate while a larger handful poke noses in a couple times every month or two then go MIA for the rest. I have for the moment (read: the last couple months) been trying to resuscitate it through various means- largely unsuccessfully. And thus, I am looking to turn my attention elsewhere. What I really want to do is be outside all of the time when the weather is good (good = any time the temp is > 60º).

(Todd got the Felice Brothers' gig 'cause his little brother is the bassist. Also, he can design things well.)

And with regard to "I can't believe Tessa's still into that community"...

The best thing placed on the Internet in 2009 thus far is this video.
