Well the weekend was some what fun. It had its ups and downs while out at Georgetown, Ky. I won't really go into it, but politics suck, and they destroy units and events. All I have to say is that some people need to grow up.
I campaigned with the artillery pieces on the battlefield. Friday night I was all on my lonesome. Except for a racoon that I chased off. Then there was a stare off with a skunk. YIKES! Luckily I eased back down into my bed, and said skunk went back to the weeds. I thought for certain I was going to get sprayed.
Saturday had a few problems with a green crew on a mounted piece. However action was taken, and the problem was solved. It was more of a laid back event this year. Between gas prices, and the politics of the event going on kept a lot of reenactors away. Normally the event has at least 8 or so sutlers. This year there was only 4. The one cool impression I saw was a family portraying refugees, and the one daughter walking around with an actually milking cow named Rosie. Saturday ended with a night fire which is always fun.
Sunday/Today was kind of miserable with the humidity. Both days I was a section commander, and was commanding the left section. It was fun for the most part. I was just a little rusty on commands, but I got back into the swing of things.
Highpoint of the weekend was getting several images struck by Wendell Decker. My parents and I posed on our 1841 six pounder first. Then we did a group photo on the six pounder of all our members. Then I got one image of myself in my federal officer gear. It really turned out......well it is just awesome. My hats off to Wendell Decker again. Here in the next few days I will get the images he took posted.
Now it is time for sleep.
