Today I was by chance reading William Brashear's publication of P.Berol. 17207, a "
Prayer of Seth." In addition to being a typically (for him) brilliant display of papyrological skill, it is written in flawless, idiomatic German, hopelessly fluent by the standards of most foreigners struggling with the language.
I knew he died young, but not how. The obits available online leave the matter vague, but testify to a life and career replete with κλέος.
