Today was the first day of my new internship. I'll be working in the cardiology ICU for the next three months. This particular unit doesn't have the reputation of being very interesting for med students, but I'm determined to learn as much as I can. Besides, I love cardiology and I'm intrigued by the ICU, so it should be an interesting mix!
The downside is that the death toll in these kind of units is dramatically higher than in the conventional units. Today, when we entered the unit, we were greeted by people wailing and crying. Not exactly the best way to start an internship.
On a completely unrelated note, the whole family went to see "Up in the Air" yesterday, and it was pretty cool! You go from laughing to crying in less than a second, it's quite startling. The acting, the script and the story were great. The only problem I had with it was the French title. Instead of translating it, they decided to call it "In the Air". You know, as if four consecutive words in English is just too much to handle. I'll never get it…
