Vid recs: BSG, Kara vids and Kara/Lee vids

I've been planning to make a BSG vid recs post for weeks. I have a ridiculous number of vids to rec, so consequently, I've decided to split them into several posts. This first set are all Kara/Lee vids, though some of them are more 'shippy' than others.

You are (both) welcome! Oh, and I really have been meaning to rec 'Addicted' for ages. I like doing recs, but I've got a huge backlog of stuff for many fandoms that I'd love to rec and keep getting distracted by other things. Oh, fandom! You are too shiny for your own good, sometimes! ;-)

I'm a Lee girl, and his POV has been the clearest to me since the mini-series, but I sometimes think I'm *too* close to it to tackle him in a vid (and yes, I did say tackle! ;)) It's like I'm putting too much pressure on myself because it's LEE. However, I'm sure I'll get around to it eventually because there's so much to work with for a character study.
Oh, I feel completely the same way. 'It's LEE!' = pressure much! His POV has been the clearest to me since the mini too. *bonds* It's an instinctive connection to me and I'm always pleased to meet others (rare) who feel the same way. However, as you say, I feel too close to him to be able to vid him. I was even scared to vid Kara/Lee, as you know!

We should probably both pause and reflect that feeling like we are inadequate to the task of Lee-vidding is, in and of itself, rather Lee-like and probably indicative that we're actually the right people for the job. *nudges* Or you are, at least! ;-)

I would DIE of happy if you made a Lee vid. I have complete faith in your vidding because I often watch your vids often feel like they fill a void for me that I didn't even know I had until I watch them. (Does that even make sense?!)

You're so wonderful about my vids, thank you! *blushes* I hadn't vidded in ages before I discovered BSG last year, and I'm so thankful to the fandom for releasing my hibernating muses. :)

I agree with your recs - there are a LOT of awesome Starbuck vids out there. Kara has these contrasts that kind of lend themselves to vidding: she has the fearless rebel side that J focused on in his vid, the vulnerable, self-loathing side, the spiritual side etc. With Lee, so many of his conflicts are internal and repressed until they manifest themselves in depression and er, overeating (eek! I can't face vidding Fat!Lee). It means that his actions can sometimes need more explanation, I think, and more teasing out (in vidding terms anyway). Kara in 'Scar' is a great example: there are so many dramatic, visual scenes perfect for vidding to dynamically show her state of mind. The Leemo is a different proposition somehow. Oh god, I'm not making any sense!

I have a couple of vids to finish for various people/exchanges, but I say we both take a deep breath and psych ourselves up for our favourite boy. :D

Oh, yeah, I know! It's one of the most obvious visual signs of disarray in Lee's emotional life, yet how could one vid that without it becoming farcical?! It even became a joke on the show! I do know what you mean about his actions needing teasing out more... I guess because Lee's such an inward-directed character whereas Kara represses so much that it does come out in action and external symbol. (I'm not sure I'm making much sense either.) Jamie does so much with his acting, with facial expressions and physical stance, but you're right that you can't rely on that alone for vidding purposes--where are the big dramatic Lee shots? Hmmm... *puts on thinking cap*

Oh, anything to encourage you along! Yes, ok! Deal! I have a couple of other vids I'd like to complete first too, but hiatus is long and someone needs to fill this Lee void. :-)
