Sep 21, 2006 14:10

I've waited long enough!! The trouble with timezones is that it's been September 21st for 14 HOURS with me, but it's still September 20th in the US. *headdesk* TOO BAD. Anyone up late can just start early. *g*

Today's the day! mskatej says we must rock out and I think that is EXCELLENT ADVICE! Thanks to everyone who's volunteered, given advice, provided ( Read more... )

S'pose I should start!

Hi SV fandom, I'm: bop_radar, aka K, Boppy or Bop
Why I love Smallville: I love the show's visual symbolism. It's visual direction is so well-constructed, and I find the show works best when viewed at a thematic/allegorical level. It's so dark too--and its obsession with predestination is unusual for a contemporary show. And it's full of subtexty goodness! It just fascinates me.
Characters I love on Smallville: All of them! Except Pete. ;-) I particularly love Lex, Clark of course, Lois and Chloe, but I've also grown to appreciate Lana and Martha and Lionel. And Jor-El! (*blows kisses to supacat*)
Characters I dislike on Smallville: Pete. Not a big Jonathan fan either.
Pairings I like on Smallville: Clex, Lexana, Clois! Also got a secret love of the Martha/Lois friendship and fondness for Jason/Lex. Zod/anyone would be good, as would Lex/Lois, but there isn't much textual basis for either yet--though there was some great Zod/Jor-El hints at the end of S5!
Favorite seasons (or favorite episodes): Third season is still my ( ... )

I may have put a little bit of thought into my ep idea, yes, *blush*

I was so scared I would be alone commenting on my own post, so YAY!

Yup, I would want my ep to be full of great visual material for a) vidders b) manips c) icons, d) general fangirl glee!!

Yay, Boppy! I have my post done, and now I'm calmly waiting until morning to post. *g* I took lots of naps today, so I'm kind of awake now. Not well, but awake!

You are so much deeper than I am. ♥♥♥

Hooray! I'm so glad you are resting, honey. Is it awful that I posted this early? I couldn't wait any longer! Meep.

No! It wasn't awful at all! I had to restrain myself, because I knew if I posted it when I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to stay awake for the comments. But I'm glad you posted when you did. It's awesome that we're so excited!

OMG, I love your proposed episode SO MUCH. SO VERY MUCH.

Maybe we can persuade someone to write it?

*grinz* I have great fondness for the idea. I think I would genuinely love writing/directing an ep of Smallville.

i'd be interested to know why you have such an aversion to pete. is it something he did, or do you just dislike the character?

Yeah, I'm not even sure myself. It's partly the actor, it's partly the way they wrote him--or didn't write him. I only really started disliking him once he'd been written off the show and I realised that his entire character arc came to nothing. The only character development he was ever given centred around one emotion: angry jealousy. And I didn't find that attractive. And it didn't go anywhere.

Perhaps if I'd responded to the actor more I wouldn't have minded it so much. But I never found him attractive--either in personality or looks.

I agree, although I'd add that I found his acting to be distractingly bad, which probably accounts for why I could never take him seriously. His anger over Lex and Clark's friendship always came off more as bitchy jealousy rather than true friendly concern to me also.
I did feel sympathy for him about one thing, and that's his unrequited feelings for Chloe.

*grinz* Thank you--that's an awesome compliment! *parties*

And haHA! Wait til the new season starts and I start posting meta again... I tend to rabbit on about the symbolism a great deal. It's my thing. *dorks*

OMG, that would be the most incredibly good episode! I totally want to see this. In fact, I'd be happy just to see this *script* -- scene by scene, figuring out what other storylines are happening at the same time, what the other characters are doing while this unfolds. Lionel would have all kinds of machinations to figure out what Lex is up to (and what else Lex might have remembered), and he'd probably try to enlist Martha by arguing that Clark's in danger; Chloe would be independently investigating whatever nefarious scientist has helped Lex recover those memories, and in doing so would accidently discover that Lex has Clark (she'd be the one to dispatch Lois; I give Lois points for bravery and strength, but she's nowhere near as sharp as Chloe); Lana would be mooning around Lex and defending him to Chloe and also kinda sorta wondering where Clark has gone... Oooh.

(Of course, mostly I'd just pay money to see the clex scene you describe. But I'm having fun fleshing it out...)
