Yes, my heart is filled with love for FNL! It gives me euphoria like no other show.
showing what a total pain in the ass brat girls that age can be - esp. to their mothers - but also showing that she's really not a "bad" kid Yeah, on another show it would be only the 'bad' kids that fought with their mothers, when the reality is that the best kids in the world do so at that age!
I LMAO when Coach grabbed his newspaper and ran to hide in the bathroom. SO typical. Ha! Yeah, I love those little moments that show Coach is a 'normal' guy--infuriating his wife and daughter. ;) The time he played ping pong at 5am was another classic. I like that because it balances out is 'ultimate dad' image. ;)
I love her, and I loved those little lines of revealing dialog they gave her tonight. I know, I was thinking in this episode how much I love the support cast, especially those that recur regularly like Grandma. But also even in the sports team, I love that they've kept consistent extras even though they don't get lines.
As a mom, the scene that killed me was where Tami was holding Baby Grace and watching Julie pull off for her driver's test, and she put her hand over her mouth to hold back the tears. I cried! They grow up so fast!!
Also, when Julie said, "Maybe I just believe my mom when she said she'd meet me at the DMV," I was like, "OOoooooooooooooh!!!!" Totally appalled for Julie. Poor girl!! God, being a mom and a daughter is so tough!
Yes, the mother-daughter stuff was so well played. I remember when I was a teenager and I could be such a bitch to my mum, but I also remember how devastated and fragile I would have felt if she'd failed to show at something really important to me. So I thought that was a great plot for showing both sides of the relationship sympathetically.
