Figured I'd update.
I'm in Winston-Salem, NC at the moment, home of the Warthogs. We're about to be "celebrity judges" in a hot wing competition. Gotta get the ol' taste buds ready and raring to go.
Got to see an inside the park home run last night. Though it was in favor of the opposition, it was still pretty cool to see. It was the loudest I'd ever heard a minor league crowd get. This particular field is right next to the Wake Forest campus, so we see a lot of walkup college traffic. This would be the kind of place I'd like to work. Laid back, not too hot, good crowds, good baseball.
At the moment we're in first place in our division, a game and a half up on Wilmington. We've got sixteen games left in the half, so if we can hang on, we'll have a spot in the playoffs after the second half. I've got pennant fever like no other.
The only downside to making the playoffs is that it would interfere with my high school football schedule. I got hired as the lead play-by-play guy for WBRG's broadcasts of E.C. Glass High School football this fall. I'm pretty sure their first regular season game is a few days after our regular season ends, so if we go to the playoffs, I'd have to miss atleast one game. It's no real big deal, and I'm sure the owner of the station would understand my situation, I just feel bad. One big upside is if we win the Carolina League championship I'll get a ring. That'd be friggin sweet.
Anywho, getting ready for wings. Toodles.
