time to vent

I was hoping things would start to go my way after a pretty shitty and stressful 2009. Despite being really poor and having seemingly impossible debts to pay off, I was hoping for a 4.0 on the EIPA, the ability to pay off my parents and credit card with a second job, and a move to California (where the weather is perfect and everything is ( Read more... )

From my eyes, I've seen you make one great decision after another, Nathan. None of this is actually your FAULT. You worked to have the freedoms you've had, and you deserve them.

You moved to a better paying job that was closer to home. Who wouldn't?
Who actually expects to get ROYALLY fucked over? I was so excited for you last year when you were going through all the changes. I was jealous of how put together you were, and now admire you for it. You think things through, actually manage your money, and are doing work that helps people live their daily lives.

Just remember two things:
1.) The entire world is going through this right now. Wealthy countries are broke, the poor are even poorer. Once dependable industries now have workers underemployed or unemployed, or with no work at all AND over-qualified for any remedial job in retail or foodservice. Move home, take some time to heal and it WILL be worth it.

2.) 25 is still a baby. Jake is 25 and he can't even fucking fill out a resume to get a damn job with his degree and CHOOSES to work minimum wage and blow all of his money into his nose or lungs. You are ahead of the game, dear. You always have been, life just fucking sucks. Don't let it permanently affect the way you look at things, because, well I've always appreciated the way you look at things and don't want it to change.

If it's any consolation, I'll always be here even if you are depressed, pissy or an asshole (not that you ever are really). And, if you do move home I will still be in the burbs. And I'll be able to pay for things (because we all know its my turn) and we WILL have fun.

I mean fuck, Nate, we can be regulars at the super sweet Piano bar!!

Keep your damn chin up. There's always going to be roadblocks, reach out to others to help you get through it. Dont hole it up.
