Adventures in cashiering!
Ahhh, never a dull moment working at Dominions Save-A-Center... :)
Heard a great quote today, this is definately one to keep tucked away in the good ol' memory warehouse.
So anyway, I'm workin' away at the register, when I hear a customer shouting at the head cashier, who was acting manager at the time. Nothing unusual really, we get an asshole customer in the store every now and then. Not very often, but frequent enough to make it relatively unspecial.
All of a sudden the guy starts shouting and swearing, banging on things, slamming displays and such, screaming about how we're "trying to steal from him". Apparently, he had forgotten a box of burgers earlier, and this was obviously our fault. The head cashier even offered him a free box in addition to the one he had forgotten since he was making such a big deal out of it, but this apparently wasn't good enough. No, he wanted TEN. Silly guy... :)
Well, he keeps on screaming and generally making himself look like a real idiot to everyone in the store. So the head cashier tells him that she's starting to feel threatened, and she will not help him unless he calms down. She suggests that they talk "like civilized people", to which he replies, and I quote...
"I'M NOT CIVILIZED, I'M SERBIAN!"
Heh heh... He eventually stormed off, without his free box o' burgers, shouting about how he'd report us to the manager. I still can't believe someone would actually be stupid enough to say that. He didn't just make himself look like a moron, he publicly insulted his entire people. XD
Sad thing is... This happened in front of 4 new cashiers who were on their first day of training today, just as they were all about to leave. They were all standing around looking at each other with these terrified and confused expressions. I hope they don't assume that EVERY day is like this. XD
