Good Days, the Old Days, and End of Days.

So my brother's best friend calls up a couple days ago and asks why I don't write on my blog any more, leading my brother to ask me what a blog is. Since my last entry I always thought, hey, what I wrote still holds true - home's great, job's great, radio show is great, etc.

I haven't taken many (if any) pictures in the past few months since I've started working for a photography studio. After I do some 300+ head shots in one day, the last thing I'd think about doing for fun would be to take more pictures. It's something all of my colleages have gone through as well... speaking of whom, said colleagues are the best people I've ever worked with, we all get on better than any place I've worked at. We're all so similar I've even had my boss and this other guy Pete I work with on my radio show. Jo calls him "my boyfriend Pete", I had even gushed about him to her the day I met him in the studio and said 'There's this guy in the studio, he looks like Charlie from "Lost", and he's from South London, too! He says thing's like "nic" and "bugger"... and he blah blah blah blah.' Then what do you know, we became good buds.

Even though I haven't taken many pictures lately, this is probably a good time for one of those yearly introspectives I used to go so hard with. Whenever I really want to take some pictures for fun, like when Jo and I take a train ride around Stanley Park to admire their intense festive light displays with Gwenn and Erik my camera dies and won't come back... I think that time I dropped it on East Hastings and kicking it down the street while I was rather loopy was what did it in, so this may be the last you see of that old Sony.

Anyway, we recently had out (twelfth!) annual Rockathon at the Queen's in Nanaimo, and how could I let a year pass without posting some photos of that?

With this one, I can hear words Jo once said (unrelated to this) when she exclaimed 'Recreating scenes from last year, much?'.

My brother and I. Adrian said 'You're wearing sweaters, you must be bros!' Yes.

This is Rich! Alas, I left my battery charger at home in Vancouver... so I couldn't upload any more of any ... you know... BANDS who were at the Rockathon. So, I refer you to Last Year's Event for basically the same thing, only this year had more crowd surfing.

Late-night edit: Through the luck of having a Canon camera and printer, the memory sticks are acceptable, and as such, I thought I'd share this rockin' photo -

Christmas this year has been great, I am most glad for the hustle and bustle to be at ease for awhile and I can have more than a few hours to see my family and old friends. How can I not love free loot, too? I could not believe what I saw when I opened one of Jo's presents to me and saw a copy of the "Cool World" game for the Super Nintendo, one of my all-time faves. Cool World! She probably only heard me mention it once when I scoured a flea market looking for it, but never could. I still could never get past the second level, but at least now I don't have to take it back to the video store. She also got me a new phone, so I won't be laughed at by everyone for having a ghetto phone for at least another five years.

The year started off with a lot of partying with the Alisa / Neely tandem before the former went back to teach English in South Korea (I haven't forgotten to make that part of my life's goal, I swear). There was a lot of Hoko's action, too!

I watched the end of a punk era in Vancouver as two bands - The Bad-Amps and Fun 100 had themselves a farewell show that ended with mayhem and police. The Bad-Amps re-united for that show as well, which was also a vinyl-release party.

My friends in Caravan also made an album, of which I was even on the chorus to one of the songs. This is a shot from their last show at the Croatian Cultural Centre and it is in fact of the band that came after them, Rokija, but I thought it was more appropriate.

I really can't go any further without mentioning that I met Joanna this year. I love her dearly and since we met eight months ago we've hardly spent any time apart. I've never delved into the scene of scenes quite so much before I met her, but now we've settled down a lot and we spend many nights in cuddling with Thai food and a movie. I've really come to appreicate Joy Division with her, too.

Oh what the hell, here's another picture of us:

I also bought tight pants.

There were a lot of parties. Perhaps too many.

We had a couple cats this year, too. This is Jake and Alteria's feline Hunter T. Sweatpants that we looked after. He ran away.

But was found! On the other hand, we could not get rid of this cat, Peeko. I found him wandering the streets, gaunt as hell and puking up grass. While Hunter was missing, Peeko returned to us by climbing right onto the bed from out of nowhere. I felt it was an omen to just give him to Jake and Alteria, but Jo didn't didn't see it my way.

I also went all over the greater Vancouver area working with a radio station in the beginning of the year, then a photography studio at the end (with a stint at the HMV megastore downtown between them). There was one week where I went on an out-of-town excursion to take school photos for a few schools between here and Prince George, with a stop along the way to this native reserve which was quite an experience to be in a place that is so self-sufficient they really don't rely on hardly anything from out of town, besides school photography.

It was a lonely place...

These are just two of my co-workers...

My Hallowe'en costume... Marty McFly! The pants were taken right from work, some girl left them behind, and liking how they randomly fit (aside for no room you-know-where it makes bulges look bigger) they made my costume complete. I spent mine moshing at the diviest bar in town, the Cobalt... dodging punks and their firecrackers. Jo went to another bar in ghettoville, but showed up at the very end to hear the Ramores take on the greatest live punk album ever and made the night complete.

Our X-Mas tree, full of presents!

And that's the year it's been... more or less!
