So, I went camping recently with my dad and sister Liz (the cool sister for those of you in the know). I'm going to shortly upload details of the trip, and some photos, but firstly I did some drawings - several of them in fact, which will probably all show up here sooner or later once I put finishing touches to them. But to kick things off,
here is the first of the bunch.
This is Lieutenant-Colonel James Wolfe proposing to Miss Elizabeth Lawson. Wolfe had been smitten with Miss Lawson for two years, ever since he had first seen her; though Wolfe's family was opposed to the match, he persisted in courting her. As you can see here, she turned him down, and was later engaged to marry another man - though evidently she strung this fellow along, as she did not actually marry him before her death in 1759 (the same year as Wolfe.)
Wolfe remained very much attached to Miss Lawson ever afterward; he "could not hear her name mentioned without a twitch or hardly ever think of her with indifference."
I love Wolfe's nose. It's so much fun to draw. :D
