Problem: When presented with three bottles filled of unknown liquid, find the one that will properly alleiviate induced pruritus, make use of it, and use newfound ease to take revenge on the inducer.
Materials:
3 bottles of unknown substances
3 glasses
3 metal stirring rods
1 Test animal
1 cigarette lighter
1 bottle calamine lotion to tide me over.
Method: I laid out the three bottles and labeled them 'A', '2' and '*', and then poured their contents into three completely cleaned clear glasses, similarly labelled, laying the bottles aside for future reference.
Upon examination, the liquid in glass 'A' was colourless and clear, with no discernable suspensions. Checking bottle A showed no remaining precipitates. I wafted the substance and discovered it to be odourless, and non-combustable when a small amount was introduced to the flame from a cigarette lighter. Simple charms showed it to be nonspelled, and it appeared to be neither overly acidic or alkaline upon a test.
My hypothesis at this point led to bottle A being filled with dihydrogen monoxide. In response to this, I manually accelerated a large book towards the far wall.
Bottle 2 was filled with a substance slightly more viscous liquid, dark brown and purple-ish in hue. Wafting gave an odour somewhat reminiscent of fruit and vanilla, not unpleasant in the slightest. It was also nonspelled and noncombustable, however it did show itself to be fully capable of completely and utterly dissolving a stirrer.
I attempted to induce a test subject, hereafter referred to as Test Subject Alpha, to ingest a small amount of the substance. In responce, Test Subject Alpha attempted to ingest the first two phalanges on the second finger of my left hand, with no apparent interest in the substance being tested.
I set substance 2 aside and locked Test Subject Alpha outside of the window of the room.
Bottle * was the last remaining. It was more liquid than either of the preceeding, slightly red, with no immediately discernable odour and a slight amount of white precipitate when allowed to settle. Test Subject Alpha attempted to break the window and I frightened him off. Substance * was, once again, completely uncharmed and mildly alkaline.
Hypothesis: Well, A's water, B ate a stirrer, so process of elimination...
Testing: I replaced substance * in its proper bottle, just in case, and drank it, slowly to make sure that any possible effects would be caught as soon as possible.
Results: Given that I'm not dead, nor itching like mad, I don't think I need to write this bit, either. However, with that said, the pruritus stopped, and if I were you, I'd be wondering where I'd put the other two bottles. Just a hint.
