One thing that I noticed about the election is that early in the campaigning days many people thought Kerry would be elected simply because so many people would rebel against Bush. On election night I believe the opposite occured.
I dont know many people who support a lot of the President's view, but at least what he feels and believes is right there in your face. John Kerry on the other hand was hard to read and after three debates and even listening to him in public, I didnt understand him.
I never at once thought that the President was going to lose this election, although I wish we had better people to choose from.
I think the biggest thing that bothers me about the President is that in 2000 he worked with the NAACP to get their endorsement and didnt meet with them anymore after that. He met with the black caucus once and never met with the Association for Hispanic Americans or the Association of Muslim Americans. He also turned down interviews with BET while Kerry for what its worth filmed an hour interview.
I didnt feel that either candidate reflects what I need or want for this country over the next 4 years, but it really scares me that the President seems to have little to no focus on minorities in the country.
I think he will do fine though, but will face a lot of scrutiny if he really tries to overhaul the tax code and social security. The war in or on Iraq, vs. Terrorist, who gives a damn. He'll have my complete support if he can simply get our gas prices below 1.75 and fully fund no child left behind.
Trust, hmmm...I dont think I should touch that one. Is that topic stemming from your experience on Housing Staff?
