So, yes, I'm finally updating. You can all stop worrying I've vanished from the face of the planet. I realize it's been 2007 for a while now, so I figured I may as well do a little "state of the Bootler". Plus I'm bored. So here we go.
Christmas break went pretty well. Very little drama at the Crawford house, which is always nice. My grandma (dad's mom) came to visit for a few days. Since she lives in Winnipeg we don't get to see her very often, so that was good. Played a lot of board games, took her to see the Canadian Brass and for Boxing Day at my Aunt Wendy's (mom's sister). So good times were had. I worked a bit at the bank, but because I'm a weird person that can't handle having nothing to do, even if I'm being paid for it, I ended up quitting after a little over a week. So I'll get paid for the few hours I did work, just not quite as much as I would have liked. Whatever. This just really confirms that I never want to work at the bank again. Of course if this whole research thing doesn't pan out... Also over the break I managed to have lunch/go shopping/visit with Jamie and Brandi, have dinner with Sabster, and go to a couple concerts with Ashley. All of which were awesome. Also did a lot of chatting on MSN with Shawn, Ashley, Ava, and a bit with Will who is apparently working as a research analyst. WTF?! I mean, congrats on having a job and everything, but what the hell am I in school for?
Anyway...
Since getting back to Barrie more fun times have been had. Saturday: NFL playoffs at Shawn's, drinking at Krystle's, dancing at Random Ranch (on the bar for some people...), movies at my place, and an end of the "night" at 6 in the morning. Sunday: slept 'til noon, hung out online, went grocery shopping, wine and cheese/board game night at Shawn's, home "early" by around 2. Monday: more sleep, more wasted time online, gym, Ashley came over to watch more Coupling, actual early night around 10:30/11. And today back to class. So all good things.
Hokay, so that's all the "here's what I'm doing" stuff. Now for the "random thought dump" portion of the post. Everyone together: yay!
So over the break, while attempting to avoid boredom and not get mad at the piano, I read over a whole bunch of my old lj posts. Always interesting to do. One thing that really struck me is that I used to be a very angry person. I freely admit to still doing the occasional rant and being in a bad mood every once in a while, but holy man nowhere near as much as I used to. Which is kind of odd, because I would have thought that going off my medication would have resulted in a shift the other direction. It could just be that my friends now are less annoying (or awkward and irritating :P) or that I've matured a whole bunch, but I'm not really sure. It's certainly a good thing, so I guess I shouldn't analyze it too much.
Other random thing, that I've actually commented on a few times: with the exception of Lethbridge, every time I move my life seems to get a little better. Calgary, Whitby/Peterborough, Barrie, I keep meeting awesome people and "growing as a person" and junk. As much as I whine about change, and the huge pain in the ass that is moving, it generally seems to work out for me. Which is also pretty damn cool.
Final random thing: I've been writing!! Jamie, you'll be happy to know that I've added a bit to the undead army story, so maybe you'll be getting a finished product in a few months/years. Before you graduate, honest. Also worked out a little writing practice thing with Sab, so that should be good times. Yay creative friends willing to give feedback!
And...that's pretty much everything. Gunna go read/watch TV/randomly surf for a bit, and then possibly watch some movies with folks. Yay student life!
