I am such a sucker! First, i bought into the myspace thing, and then within months i'm over it and addicted to facebook. Okay, so i know i'm not the only one, but really it's a new state of depravity for me!
It's incredibly fun though, which is hard to admit....
in other news, i feel like reading the dictionary. Like there are so many words out there I don't know. I was playing scrabble yesterday and I felt really dumb, you know that feeling where words just don't form in your brain! And then jo was using words i'd never heard of and i was like, what went wrong??!
Flipping through my dictionary as I type, i see words like patina, which iv'e never heard of: "a film, usually green, caused by oxidisation on the surface of old bronze, and thought highly of as ornamental." what!? So you mean that green stuff on bronze actually has a name!? See, now that, is helpful, my friend.
or another example - what, you might ask, does it mean to be squalmate? Well it means to be covered with scales, of course...
ah the wonders of the english language.
Had a fun weekend - went to the orange art gallery with claire to see art express and then out to thai on friday night. Thai in orange, is very different, but good. There's this bizarre mix of cultures going on. We're having a few issues at work, but i think we're both pretty sure we will survive. At least, i hope we will. It's good we have eachother though, to sort of lament our general situation of being exiled from Sydney!
Then yesterday I woke up really late and read the paper for most of the day and was still in my pj's at 3pm, when i had a shower. SOoooooo good to sleep in and do nothing, which included making two really long phonecalls to Jo and Veronica. Jo and I played scrabble though facebook, while on the phone which was quite hilarious. Then Rachel from church invited me out with a bunch of people to dinner and play board games. Was quite quaint and exciting to meet another person out here with a vague interest in music. Rach's into more triple-j kind of stuff, which might not sound amazing or even all that great, but out here - it is!
Hope everyone in sydney town is good. I'm probably going to visit in a couple of weeks for steph's birthday. It's been a month since i moved - feels like forever!
