Challenge: Music Appreciation March

Mar 01, 2010 23:30

What's this? I'm actually launching another challenge? And on the first of the month? Quick, make sure I haven't been replaced with a Jarvis-droid!

Okay, you can stop checking now.

Thanks to my knee-jerk habit of associating songs with characters, I am now kicking off a music-based challenge. See, every time I hear a song with "blue" (or, more rarely, "gold") in the title, my brain immediately jumps to our boys. This generally has hilarious results, like when I imagine Ted weeping to the sounds of a 13-year-old Leann Rimes yodeling "Blue,", or trying to convince Jaime and Dan to help him perform "Blue Moon", with requisite punchline. (There are also sad results - I believe it was goldensuzaku who pointed out that "Black and Gold" is pretty much how Blackest Night should have gone for our fellas.)

So your challenge is to create something inspired by a song that references blue or gold. As usual, it can be any of the Beetles, and it doesn't have to be in the title (I can think of one rather Booster-ish song with the repeated line "all that glitters is gold"). Fic based on "Am I Blue?" Art based on "Blue Skies"? A vid to "The Blue Room"? It's all good.

I've got a whole list of songs, so if you're stumped, ask away! I can provide you with 1930s standards you have never heard of, baby. (And if you can think of songs but have no ideas for them, share! We can always use more suggestions.)

ETA: Just to clarify, because I don't think I was clear - while I am all for sharing Boostle-icious songs, the challenge is only for songs that include the words "blue" or "gold" in the lyrics. (Clearly we should have an FST/vid month in the future, though!)
