Author's Notes: Another one of my Other Surnames Dawn Never Had ongoing drabbles, which was posted up at TtH earlier today.
ffutures made a comment wondering just how Dexter actually regards Dawn, given that he's a pychopath and that inspired me for the second drabble.
So, turns out my older brother’s a serial killer.
The Bay Harbour Butcher in fact. Heard of him? Tough not to.
But me… I don’t care. Family is family, blood is blood after all. And let’s face it, any family containing an other dimensional key is never gonna be completely normal.
Whatever. How’d I find out about Dex? Well, dear diary, that’s the key stuff again. Where you have weird mystical energy disguised as a 14 year old girl, you get weird mystical crap looking for it.
In short, vampires, slayers, and watchers v one cross-dressing skanky-ass goddess intent on sacrificing me. One fun weekend, I tell you.
Turned out Deb’s latest doctor boyfriend slash serial killer (my sister has the worst taste in men ever) was the host for Glory. When I went missing, Dexter worked out it had to be someone I knew, and tracked us down. I was about to be sacrificed, but Ben shifted in suddenly, which gave Dexter his chance to reach me.
Then he promptly cut Ben’s throat.
And then cut up and disposed of the body.
I’m not stupid. I know he’s a killer.
But he’s my brother, dammit.
And Morgans stick together.

“Godammit, Dexter!” Deb swears and punches the dashboard in her frustration, “How the fuck do you know Dawn is this way??!”
I swing the car round yet another corner and concentrate. Ah, Deb… Deeply Doubting Dubious Deborah. What can I say? I’m not even sure I understand this fully yet.
“Trust me here, Deb,” I say mildly, “I’m just trying to get into the kidnapper’s head.”
Deb grunts and stares out the window angrily. It’s not quite the truth, but then I really don’t think she wants to know I’m only driving this way because it seems… greener… this way.
