It is a nice change...having a thunderstorm instead of a heavy snowstorm. I love thunderstorms! Even though I was at work and unable to just sit and watch it, I still enjoyed seeing the lightning and hearing the thunder. It's a promise of warmer weather to come. And I just like the ruckus of a thunderstorm. LOL. Yeah, I'm a little weird. That's OK.
However, thunderstorms bring more water, and that's one thing our county doesn't need! We still have an exceptional amount of snow on the ground, which is melting fairly quickly. Our local meteorologist just said that five inches of snow-melt equates to 2.5 inches of water; add the .40 inch of rain we got, and we're at nearly three inches of water, and we are expecting more thunderstorms this evening as well as more snow melt. It's no wonder a flood warning was issued for our county.
With the ice dams we have on our roof, I was very, very concerned about excess water coming into our house. Instead, the rain has been working in our favor. It has washed a lot of ice off the roof so all the water is shunting down the roof the way it should instead of coming in the house. I am so relieved!
Dave got a bad scare this evening. As we watched the evening news on our local TV station, a piece aired about a Coldwater teen who'd been missing for two days. It turned out to be one of Dave's friends. After several tense moments, her mother reported her found! Whew. What a relief. Dave was really shaken by that. I always feel badly for the parents of the teens you see on the news every day, but it truly does rock you to the core when it's someone you know or the friend of one of your children. Thank our Good Lord there was a positive outcome to this situation!
That's about it for tonight. Until later.....
