Odd - it says that it's accepting new members.

Try going to their site, hitting Join up, and then Join Existing team.

What about me struck as particularly techno-crippled?

The site is down. You can put in your info and click to join and then it says "This function is currently not available". If you follow the comment link to the creator's LJ there is already another "I can't make it work" comment. :P
