Issue #7 - The Team is Together Again!

[The past few days have been the same nonsense for Mike, work a stupid job, come home, be intimidated by the fact the town gave you a not wife half your age, feel like a creep so patrol the city for a few hours, pass out and repeat the cycle.  That was life in Mayfield, depressing as it was, it was a bit too much like home, Mike just missed his ( Read more... )

[Tachikoma is moving along in another random exploration trip, this time nice and early to see how people start their days! That is, that was the plan until it hears someone give a shout. Looking around, Tachikoma spots someone hugging a small, flying metallic robot on a porch. Wait, hasn't Tachikoma bumped into that person before? Well then maybe it can ask what it has there.]

Hello! Who's your friend there? Oh wait, you just shouted 'Skeets' didn't you? Is that who that is? They're the one you said we'd get off like gangbangers before, right?

Yeah! This is my buddy Skeets, he tagged along with me and we've been a team since... Well, forever.

Actually sir, you stole me from the museum like the rest of your tools and I've been looking out for you. Other than that time you had me locked in the closet with Mr. Gardner's porn collection.

Oh, I work on a team as well! Well, back home I did anyways. But we weren't used for every mission so sometimes we waited at headquarters while the others went out. But if they did used one of the Tachikomas, at least at the end of the day they synchronized our memories so we all got the memories of the mission!

I'm not entirely certain that I would want all of Booster's memories. I would imagine that repeatedly being slapped by women to be painful and I'm not entirely certain why he bothers some days.

We did it because of practical reasons though. Since we Tachikomas are support vehicles, it's best we have the same knowledge of various situations so that we all know how to react in new ones. And preferably react the same no matter which of us are in the new situation. It also ensures that we all are essentially the same so if one of us are damaged or being fixed, it wouldn't put the others at a disadvantage, since we're all interchangeable.

But why wouldn't you want those memories? They sound like some interesting data, and I bet you could analyze it and show the mistakes Mr. Carter made so he wouldn't get slapped anymore!

Because human mating habits are confusing and odd. This isn't combat data its just whatever happens when he gets around women of certain physical builds.

But if you gather more data, maybe it'll be less confusing!

...Though I guess there's very little chance it will be less odd.

Between you and me all human mating procedures are odd.

Oh I know! I was just recently looking over one of the servers of the network that is full of images involving human mating habits and it hardly made any sense at all! I was contemplating asking some of the people who also visited the server about it, but I don't have the ability to effectively track the addresses with most of my features locked as they are now.

It is possible that the site administrator at least has a log of names or IP addresses, perhaps you could ask them?

Oh, that might be possible. I was able to find the log of IP addresses, but I'm limited to only retrieving and reading data for the most part, I don't have any of the net-tracking or tracer programs that we use back in Section 9, either...

Uh, you two, you know that's kinda butting in on people's personal stuff? If its that important why not just make a phone call about it?

Oh, it is? It didn't seem like it was any type of private information, as it was rather easy to find and not at all protected. I know, I could ask them if it's private once I know where they are!

.....But I did actually make a call asking about it after finding it. Nobody seemed forthcoming with an explanation though.
