Fic: Challenge # 21

Feb 20, 2008 18:40

A last-minute job that's been rattling away for ever so long and finally decided to sneak out. It's still not quite all I thought I'd be, but I thought I'd give it a shot, anyway. :-)

Title: The Right Words
Pairing: It’s in there- but which? :-D
Summary: A contemplation from a POV.
Word Count: 798
Rating: U- not even a bad word.

I really, really like this. I love the ambiguity you've got going on - even now I'm not entirely certain who it focused on. At first I thought Vince, then Howard, then I mused on the possiblities of it being RPS and then I finally returned to Vince. But that's probably just my mind being remarkably slow tonight.

Anyway, it's lovely, and these are my favourite bits:

The duvet of Destiny has slithered onto the floor of Fate, leaving the legs of Life exposed.

Because it made me smile. Also

Find out in the dark what he feels, these three ay-em jitters?

Because I get just like that in the small hours of the morning, and finally

It’s strangely prescient and a little bit lonely. “Meeting at a point without intersecting.”

Because it's just... aww.

Thanks for sharing :)

Ahh I'm glad it wasn't just me being slow then!

:) That's one thing I would *never* accuse you of, honey, believe me!
Now, when's the next bit of your lovely tale coming?

Wow. That was...utterly unexpected. I love the ambiguity, I think it's Howard or Julian, but it could be Vince or Noel too - it could be what they both think of each other. You write really well - wonderfully in fact. The pace was nicely done and there were some great lines in it too. It's quite philosophical in its outlook. Well done :)

Thank you! I confess, this was the piece that was banging about in its ambiguous way when I suggested 'tangents' to the mods in the first place- a spiralling away and a coming back, and I thought that was a neat idea to throw open. As to whose POV and which pairing... you're close. Yes, yes and yes and yes. Hope that clarifies ;-D

I really love this. I was veering from Vince and Howard throughout it, and settled on Vince, but I love that fact that it never says.

I love these bits:

Look but don’t touch; touch but don’t mean it- play a fine game on a narrow ledge of uncertainty. What is it you’ve got?

It’s strangely prescient and a little bit lonely. “Meeting at a point without intersecting.”

Tap on his door? Ask him? Find out in the dark what he feels, these three ay-em jitters?

You're an excellent writer. I loved reading this :)

Thank you, pixie! Truth be told, that first line you quoted, and the last, they came, I think, from events in my own past. That's why I love the Boosh- it helps one to remember without regret, and it covers and empathises with so much of what is around us in 'real life'. Just sometimes where fantasy ends and reality begins gets a bit muddled- and that, too, is something played about with in the series. The two lovely, lovely men responsible are geniuses. :-)
Thank you again.

I love this!
I adore ambiguious stories, they leave so much to your own imagination. And the language is so poetic too. I want to pick out favourite points . . .but the whole thing just gave me goosebumps.
Well Done x

I love this. I love the way you wrote three ay-em jitters. It's such a simple thing but it sticks out just because it's different.

And the elephant reference at the end. I always liked that story about the blind men. Plus elephants are obviously now slashy animals in Boosh canon.

Thank you. :) Been reading a lot recently, and I think it's helped with writing.
Slashy elephants? Man, that'd be one oversized ballet of desire! ;-)
